Paterson, NSW

Paterson highlights

Paterson is one of the historic towns of the Hunter Valley, 18 kilometres north of Maitland. This small, picturesque village has a mountain backdrop by the Paterson River. Once a busy river port, Paterson today offers a relaxing break with cosy accommodations, cafes, old country pubs, and perfect picnic spots.

When planning your Hunter itinerary, why not include a trip to Paterson? Don’t miss the Tocal Homestead, an impressive Regency mansion set among fig trees and overlooking the river. If you’re interested in local history, the Paterson Historical Court House Museum and Paterson Rail Motor Museum are well worth a visit.

From Paterson, you can also set out on other adventures in the area, including Dungog and the Barrington Tops National Park, which is a stone’s throw away.
