Narooma’s Industrial Area Is Where It’s At

SHARE

Okay, before anyone accuses us of going full-on hipster [though we are partial to wire-rimmed glasses and oat milk lattes], we think we’ve stumbled on a funky new spot to visit in Narooma

Over on the industrial side of town, some awesome local businesses are doing their thing, and we’re seriously impressed.

You’ve got a brewery, a café and catering business, a food truck, and seafood shops, that are all worth checking out.

Here’s why:

Mr Bold Catering Co is a fantastic local catering business serving up delicious bites for all types of parties and celebrations.

We love the huge variety of options available, from grazing tables and cocktail menus to plated dinners, shared table dishes, and buffet-style spreads.

They also offer wonderful Wednesday lunch specials [check their socials to see what’s on offer], plus tasty take-home meal options.

The café Mr Bold Next Door is a must-visit too. Open from 7am to 2pm Monday to Friday, they serve up quality coffee from Axil Coffee, along with cakes, jaffles, and tasty snackies.

Be sure to grab some of their pickles, sauces, spice rubs, and relishes on your way out. A great way to impress your foodie friends if you’re gonna embrace that hipster life!

Apart from coffee, the only other brew we need to have a good time is a brewski, a beer, a frothy, or a cold one – whatever the cool kids are calling it, that’s what we’re ordering.

Luckily, just a 5-minute stroll from Mr Bold is a craft brewery with a welcoming vibe and an excellent selection of drinks.

There’s a real seaside feel here, with a boat hull hanging above the bar and the laid-back friendliness of the staff. Plus, there’s plenty of space inside and out to settle in for an afternoon with the crew.

They also host regular events like trivia nights and free live music.

Not the biggest fan of beer? No worries, there’s cider and wine available. And if you’re feeling peckish, you can grab a bite to eat from the onsite food truck, more about this below.

Thanatchas Thai One On [great name] sits just outside Breakwall Brewing Co. and slings out flavourful and exciting homemade Thai dishes.

Open 7 days a week from 12pm – 7pm, the menu here gives us all the heart eyes.

Think classics like Pad Thai, Pad Kra Pao and Fish Cakes, as well as fun additions like burgers and tacos.

There’s also a kids’ menu, so you can bring the littles along.

Seafood Galore

Fresh seafood is pretty synonymous with our region and Narooma’s industrial area has not one but two places to get your fix.

Montague Oysters, just next door to the brewery, sells oysters that are to die for. Remember that possum that got trapped in a bakery and ate so many pastries it couldn’t move? Picture us as the possum, the oysters as the pastries—and yeah, you get the drift…

Seriously, these molluscs are plump and tasty. Montague Oysters is open Monday to Friday and sometimes on Saturdays. Just call ahead to check.

Just around the corner is Narooma Seafood, a local seafood supplier that also sells directly to us lucky locals. Open 7 days a week, you’ll find everything from tuna, prawns, snapper, ling, abalone, scallops and SO.MUCH.MORE.

Their website has some handy recipes for cooking different kinds of fish, plus wine pairing ideas.

Have we convinced you to hit up Narooma’s industrial district yet?

We’ve convinced ourselves that’s for sure.

Catch ya there cool cats!
