There’s no better way to shake the sillies off and make the most of our beautiful location with a family walk or ride outside in the fresh air.
Here’s our selection of eight family-friendly walks and rides in the Eurobodalla – from coastal rides to rainforest adventures, and everything in between.
Pack up the crew, and off you go!
350m of timber boardwalk that’s perfect for prams, wheelchairs, and bikes. Great for all ages and abilities, you’ll have plenty of chances to spot fish swimming below as the boardwalk goes right across the water. You may even spy a seal or two!
There’s a fun playground and picnic area here as well. Once you’ve finished your stroll, you can choose to continue along the cycle/walking path to Australia Rock at the Wagonga Inlet entrance for more beautiful views.
With mostly flat paths that follow the bay, this one is super easy for everyone to enjoy.
Kick things off at Corrigans Beach in Batehaven where there’s heaps of parking, picnic tables, barbecues, and a play area.
Follow the cycleway into Batemans Bay, cross the bridge, and keep going towards Wharf Road. When you get to Myamba Parade, hop off and check out the Cullendulla Boardwalk. It’s a really cool walk through the wetlands and a must-see part of the Batemans Bay ecosystem.
The whole return trip is around 18km of stunning views, passing by Birdland Animal Park and some great waterfront spots to grab a snack or cuppa along the way.
It’s well known that Depot Beach is one STUNNER of a location, but did you know the rainforest walk near the beach is also a beaut?
It’s a short walk that begins at the Depot Beach picnic area and is perfect for kids. Stepping-stones and logs line the trail [and are pretty irresistible to play on]. The walk leads back to the beach, where the family can have a swim, surf, snorkel, or splash in those crystal-clear waters.
A gorgeous part of the Murramarang National Park and a quick 2km trail. But don’t let the distance fool you; it totally punches above its weight in beauty.
The little ones will love hopping across the stepping stones, climbing the lookout tower, and balancing on the log walk. The trail winds through massive spotted gums and past a rare patch of rainforest, perfect for spotting birds like rosellas.
At the end, you can extend your walk to take in more of Durras Lake or simply take a chill under the shady trees for a picnic.
Okay, bending the rules a bit here since there are actually five walks to choose from in the botanic gardens!
The Forestry Children’s Walk is a fun one for little explorers but isn’t the best for prams due to its uneven path. For a smoother stroll, the Arboretum Track or Aboriginal Heritage Walk are good options. And if you’re after a bit more of a workout, try the Forest or Hill Track.
On the first Sunday of every month, you can even join a free guided tour to learn about the gardens, local plants, and current projects.
An easy and pretty ride perfect for all levels of rider. The path travels along the foreshores of Coila Lake, the ocean, and the Tuross River, providing loads of cracking water views.
Begin at Kyla Oval, head towards the beach car park at Tuross Boulevard, and then loop back. All up you should cover around 12 km in total. Along the way, you’ll pass interpretive signs and Memorial Gardens, and it’s worth taking a short stroll to the One Tree Point lookout for even more coastal views.
The Broulee Island walk is a two-hour loop starting behind North Broulee Beach dunes.
Pack swimmers, a towel, good shoes, and plenty of water. The northern side has calm bays and rock pools that are perfect for exploring or having a splash. The southern side is more rugged, and the final part requires some easy rock-hopping, but it’s all part of the fun!
There’s not a great deal of shade on this walk, so don’t forget sunscreen and a hat.
Take a wander around the foothills of Gulaga [Mount Dromedary] in Tilba. Start at Station Street, near the Dromedary Hotel, follow the path through a gate, cross a paddock, and make your way over a rocky outcrop to a timber staircase. The stairs lead you through shady trees and granite rocks. At the bottom, take the 1.5km loop in either direction.
There’s even a picnic spot halfway with a sweet view of Gulaga.
This walk is super close to town, making it easy to pop into the Pub afterwards for a post-stroll sip. And of course, a visit to the lolly shop is a must as well, because what’s a family adventure without a sweet treat?
Okay, hopefully that’s enough to keep the whole family moving… and guarantee the little ones will actually sleep tonight!
