Description
Lakeside Reserve
Lakeside Reserve in Kanahooka is also known as the Kanahooka playground area. Right on the edge of Lake Illawarra, you will find an epic playground filled with flying foxes, trampolines, swings, water play and climbing structures.
Along the lake, there’s a well-kept shared pathway that leads out to Kanahooka Point for excellent water views. You’ll also find the Kanahooka jetty close by where you may meet a friendly fisherman keen to have a chat about their latest catch, or just a chance to sit and dangle your legs over the edge and listen to the waves gently flow.
In the area, there’s also some handy outdoor exercise equipment to get that body moving and heart pumping with those beaut views.
Make A Day Of It
If you’re planning a visit to Lakeside Reserve we recommend making a whole day of it. Pack a picnic and spread out on the grass around the playground or score a seat under the shaded area next to the playground. In the shaded area, you’ll also find some public BBQs to get those snags sizzling.
If you’re not in the mood for planning all the picnic feasting then never fear, across from the reserve you’ll find quite a few top-notch local shops to keep the family fed. Kanahooka Takeaway offers yummy, crispy fish and chips, Bake My Day and Cafe have tasty cupcakes for afterwards and The Licorice Shop is a lolly lover's dream. There’s even Lakeline Butchery where you can pick up sausages and other meaty goodness to bring over the road to the barbeques and get cookin’.
