Description
Reddall Reserve
This awesome space in Lake Illawarra sits right at the lake's entrance and is jam-packed with fun for locals and visitors alike.
Located just off Reddall Parade, there are a few parking lots along the reserve. The closest bus stops are along Shellharbour Road, about a five-minute walk away.
“The Red Lamp” play space is excellent for all ages and abilities, including plenty of slides, swings, flying foxes and loads of other epic playground goodies.
Next to the playground, you’ll find the super cool ninja course filled with bridges, balance beams, hurdles and plenty of other ways to become your best Aussie ninja warrior.
The park was built according to the ‘Everyone can play’ guidelines, meaning that there are spaces for everyone to enjoy for as long as they like.
Around the park, you’ll find a walking and bike track along the foreshore and space for picnics, with BBQs, shaded picnic tables, and even a handy kiosk to grab some yummy goodies and a warm cuppa.
For folks who love to fish, there’s also a fish cleaning station for preparing your catch of the day. Just be mindful of those pelican pals hanging about.
At Reddall Reserve, you’ll also spot the Lake Illawarra Art Trail, where you can learn about Aboriginal heritage, local history, and nature.
The reserve also has public toilets and a bike rack for parking your two-wheeler whilst you chill out.
Reddall Reserve is popular with visitors all year round, especially in the summer months. On a sunny weekend, you may need to get in early to secure a shaded table, but if not, we’ve always managed to find a good spot to stretch out on a rug under a shady tree.
Shellharbour Council also often uses the reserve to host local events like lake breakfasts and the Shellharbour City Festival of Sport, so keep an eye out for the next fun thing happening down on the shore.
Nearby Reddall Reserve, you’ll find Pep’s Takeaway for some classic fish and chippies, or over the bridge in Windang; around a 5min drive or 15 min walk, there are plenty of local shops, as well as Oh Dang! Espresso for a caffeine fix, The Lake Illawarra Hotel and Club Windang for a classic bowlo with a view.
