You know how we’re all about celebrating the unique spots that make our community so special? Well, we’ve sniffed out a place that’s not just unique but also incredibly heartwarming. Meet Water Walkies Hydrotherapy, the go-to spot for your furry friends’ wellness journey!

A Tail of Friendship and Innovation

Allison and Catherine, the dynamic duo behind Water Walkies, started their journey back in January 2020. The inspiration? A personal one. Catherine’s cat Zoidberg had a broken leg that wasn’t healing well after surgery. “We couldn’t find any local rehabilitation services,” Catherine tells us. “So, we decided to study and bring it to Wollongong ourselves!” And just like that, a dream was born.

More Than Just a Dip in the Pool

What sets Water Walkies apart is the sheer joy and satisfaction Allison and Catherine get from their work. “We love seeing the results,” they share. “From dogs overcoming their fear of water to those learning to walk again after spinal surgery, it’s incredibly rewarding.”

Unforgettable Furry Tales

When it comes to memorable moments, these ladies have stories that’ll make your heart swell. “Our first phone call was about hydrotherapy for a 19-year-old cat with arthritis,” Allison recalls. “We thought we’d get shredded, but she was the most amazing, calm cat.” Another standout case? A Labrador diagnosed with Poliradiculoneuritis who went from being carried into the facility to walking again unassisted in just five weeks. See!

Not Just for Rehab

Think Water Walkies is only for rehabilitation? Think again! “We offer learn-to-swim lessons in our heated pool,” Catherine points out. “And we also cater to fun and fitness swims.” The best part? Sessions are exclusive to your dog, and you’re even welcome to jump in the pool with them!

A Day in Someone Else’s Paws

If they could switch roles for a day, it would be with a social media manager. “We struggle with that element,” they laugh.

[Well, we think they’re doing a fantastic job regardless!]

Why You Should Make a Splash

So, why should you and your four-legged friend check out Water Walkies? “We cover everything from cruciate ligament issues to spinal surgery,” Allison says. “And the heated water is great for older dogs with arthritis.”

Living the Illawarra Dream

When they’re not busy making waves at Water Walkies, Allison and Catherine love the Illawarra lifestyle. “The landscape from the mountains to the sea is just beautiful,” they say. “And the people give it a big city feel with a small-town vibe.” Their go-to coffee spot? Poolside at Water Walkies, of course!

So, next time your fur baby needs a little TLC or you’re just looking for a fun, new experience, make a beeline for Water Walkies Hydrotherapy.
