How To Say Thanks And We Love You To The Father Figures In Our Lives

We’re so lucky to have so many fantastic events organised locally to celebrate the dads and father figures in our lives this coming Father’s Day – check ’em all out here.

And for some gift inspo and ideas of how to make the day super-spesh, keep on scrollin’. You’ll be Dad’s favourite for sure…..

We also love the idea of designing your own mastercard: Want to give Dad something thoughtful and useful? This personalised gift card lets you upload your own photo and message – it’s practical, but with that warm, personal touch. He can use it wherever Mastercard is accepted – maybe on a cheeky round of golf or at his fave local pub or choose to spend it anywhere or on anything on the list below!

DRINK

It’s pretty hard to go past our kickarse local breweries if Pa loves a frothy!

A growler filled up with his favourite ale from Reub Goldberg Brewing Machine or Resin Brewing, would keep any beer fan happy or order a case of cans from Stoic BrewingFive Barrel Brewing, The Illawarra Brewery, or Principle Brewing to name a few!z

If Dad’s a wine buff check out Crooked River Wines in Gerringong for a wonderful day out sampling wines amongst the vines and an exquisite dining experience in their restaurant.

Coledale Fine Wines and Thirroul Cellars are also worth a visit for quirky and unique beers, wines and spirits.

A tour of our awesome Illawarra cellar doors is a great way to treat dad on Father’s Day. It’s best to book ahead if you can, especially if you’re planning on having lunch at one of them [and we strongly recommend you do!].

And we’re lucky enough to have quite a few distilleries on our doorstep.

EAT

Breakfast in bed? Great idea. Get organised and grab some delish coffee and amazing pastries from lovely spots like Stokes Lane CafeLili J CafeSouth Paradiso CafeEarth Walker Co General Store, Kiss and DropKurtosh Wollongong – plus more in this tasty list. How good is brekkie in bed?!

Book a table his fave cafe for brekkie, brunch, lunch or dinner – check out the following venues hosting a Father’s Day special event. We love these.

Up for preparing a feast of your own? Awesome – check these options out. Seriously – the Illawarra is THE place to shop for delicious food treats.

  • Order some local meat [we’re talkin’ steak friends] from one of our butchers
  • Pickled Poet in Thirroul or Say Cheese Grazing & Co in Shellharbour will help you take your cheese platter and antipasto game to the next level!
  • Harley and John’s for a range of fresh seafood, yummy sauces, cheeses and incredible platters that he’ll love – currently open so you can pop in and grab something.
  • And if Dad’s got a sweet tooth, The Treat Factory or The Licorice Shop have got all their choccies, lollies, chips and more- then balance it out with some healthy [but still tasty] goodies from The Source. Drool-worthy!

So many gorgeous shops to visit. Too many!

SELF CARE

Our fabulous fellas need to look after themselves, right? And sometimes they put their health and wellbeing down the bottom of the priority list.

Well you can change ALL that with these awesome ideas for Dad to get his zen on, take some time out and joosh himself up cos, why the bloody hell not??

Choose somewhere like Saunaus, the ultimate spot for Dad to sweat it out, recharge and feel on top of the world. Whether he’s after recovery, relaxation or just a bit of time to himself, this one’s definitely a winner or if Dad is keen to up his fitness game, Woonona Bulli Fitness Centre , Athlete Theory or The Yard Gym Wollongong can take him to the next level, or get him started with a PT session at Coal Coast Fitness.

PLAY

A membership to a local golf course should go down well with a Pa who putts! Here’s a list of all things golf [with the all-important 19th hole] across the Illawarra.

If Dad’s idea of play is more indoors, and less about exercise, try B. Lucky & Sons , Holey Moley or Strike Bowling in Wollongong for a super fun gift idea.

Head to Trek Bicycle Wollongong or Wollongong Bike Hub if cycling is his thing. This’ll be a winner!

They’ve got loads of bikes and accessories to make sure Dad is safe, speedy and comfortable when he gets on his bike. A big range of bike shoes, super-comfortable [and padded] bib shorts, mud guards
and floor pumps for when Dad is feeling a little deflated.

They also have a very cool range of E-Bikes, if you want to get out on two wheels for a loop before settling in for lunch somewhere. And indoor trainers if Dad’s up for taking his riding [and fitness] to the next level.

If cycling isn’t your thing, the team are really helpful and can help you choose the best gift, or sort him out with a gift voucher so he can go in and choose something for himself.

For all other sporty dads check out these sports stores.

GO GREEN

Got a green thumb for a Dad? You know, that guy who just LOVES to spend the day in the garden then sits back and just looks at it for hours???

Dr Greenthumbs is always a go-to for a large range of organic gardening products including dry amendments, microbial products and gardening accessories. Their latest garden care range could make your Dad one very happy man!

Here’s a list of more local nurseries to hit up for garden accessories, fresh new plants, rare species, pots and more.

WhatEVER he loves, let’s all shop locally for him!
