Heading to Queanbeyan for a visit? Yay, we’re so excited to have you!

Or maybe you’re a local with family or friends from out of town and you need somewhere to put them up. We totally get it – filling your house with a million blow-up beds is so not ideal, right?

Perhaps you’re just after a cute little staycation, a couple of nights off from the kitchen full of dishes, and a chance to explore a new part of the region. How fun is that?!

And if you’re in town for a bucks or hens night, we’ve got some great spots for you and your crew to stay close to the action.

Where To Stay In Queanbeyan

If you’re looking to stay closer to the action or are in town for business, Queanbeyan is the best spot to book your stay. It’s where you’ll find the widest range of options, and it’s kind of like “the big smoke” of the region.

There’s a variety of accommodation styles on offer. From classic chain hotels to boutique stays and even pet-friendly options, there’s something to suit every type of traveller.

Here are some of our picks

  • Queanbeyan Riverside Caravan Park: It’s not often caravanners and campers can stay right in the centre of town, but here they can. Oh, and it’s Pet-friendly too!
  • Canberra Ave Villas: A real ‘home away from home’ vibe here with their cute self-contained villas. The villas will sleep up to 4 guests, and there’s also ‘The Residence’ which can hold 5 – great for a group getaway.
  • Golden Age Motor Inn: Another fab pet-friendly option but this time you don’t have to BYO caravan or tent. They also cater to large groups like tour groups, sports groups and special events.
  • Hamilton’s Queanbeyan Motel: Recently upgraded there are different room styles to choose from including twin rooms, family rooms, a deluxe spa room [hello romantic getaway] and even a three-bedroom house!

Braidwood

Braidwood is a small town that’s big on charm. It’s popular for city escapes, a handy resting point on the way to the coast, and even a spot for destination weddings.

What’s great about Braidwood is the mix of places to stay. There are gorgeous cottage-style getaways for intimate retreats and classic motor inns and motels that cater to all budgets.

Here are some of our picks:

  • Cedar Lodge: This trendy self-check-in motel is in a prime spot. With parking right out front of every room, it’s a good one for a road trip stopover.
  • Braidwood Showground: There are both powered and unpowered sites for campers, caravans, camper trailers, and mobile homes. Showers and toilets are available, and on-leash pets are welcome.
  • The Saddle Camp’s Tiny Houses: Tiny houses are all the rage right now, and one set right on a horse farm is fantastic! Enjoy nature, explore the farm, and of course, book a horse ride while you’re there. They also have a shared ‘Club House’ for larger groups.
  • Mona Farm: 124 acres of total luxury. There are 5 different accommodation options here from the totally romantic ‘Shearers Cottage’ with outdoor spa, all the way up to ‘The New Stables’ which can sleep 18. Mona Farm is also an iconic destination wedding location.

Bungendore

You’ll find a more relaxed, laid-back feel in Bungendore, plus it’s just a stone’s throw away from some of the wineries… aw yeah!

Bungendore isn’t a big town, so accommodation options are a bit more limited, but the options that are available are really nice.

Here are some of our picks:

  • Birkenburn Farm: With room for up to 16 guests it’s an excellent option for families, get-togethers and retreats. There’s loads to do with marked walking trails, nature play, picnic spots, dam swimming and boating, bird and wildlife watching, and beautiful bushlands to explore.
  • The Carrington Inn: Running since 1885, you’ll be staying a literal piece of Bundendore history. The 26 rooms available are all well laid out and maintained, with options that sleep up to six peeps.
  • The Old Stone House: we know this one’s only for weddings and event groups, but we reckon it’s worth getting married [or throwing a celebration] just to stay here… hehe.

  • The Lodge at Tinneburra: Another idyllic and secluded destination, can you tell we’re craving a getaway? Lots of space to stretch out, explore nature and maybe even spot a platypus in the river nearby.
  • Foxlow Quarters: tucked away in a valley with historic quarters that mix old-world and modern styles. The suites are roomy and there’s WiFi,  aBBQ, and plenty of outdoor fun.
