It’s that time again! School holidays have arrived and we’re here for it.

Sure, a snuggly movie day at home is good every now and then, but with so much to do in Queanbeyan, it’d be a shame not to round up the bambinos and get exploring.

We’ve put together 9 great options to keep the kids busy and active these July school holidays.

Once you’ve worked your way through these awesome ideas don’t forget to check out our Event Directory for even more fun-packed events, classes, workshops and more.

2:: Giddy up at The Saddle Camp

Is there a little horse lover in your family?

These school holidays The Saddle Camp is a great place for some horsin’ around…  literally!

Choose from short adventure rides, full-day programs, or even overnight camps for girls.

They also offer lessons for kids who might want to make the most of the break and focus on learning how to ride.

While the kids enjoy their time on horseback, parents can relax in the café on site, nice.

3 :: Loads At The Library

Queanbeyan council libraries turn it up over school holidays. With plenty of activities that are free or low cost, it’s a fab [and cheap] way to keep the kiddos entertained over the two weeks.

There’ll be movie screenings, arts and crafts sessions, workshops, author talks and so much more.

Check out all the lovely library events happening around Queanbeyan during these school holidays.

4 :: Mr Snotbottom at The Q

For those kids who are into all things ooey, gooey and just plain weird, Mr Snotbottom’s show will be right up their alley.

There’ll be silly songs, gross jokes and plenty of laugh-out-loud moments for kids and grown-ups alike. We love that stand-up comedy doesn’t just have to be for the older crowd.

There are 2 show times on the afternoon of the 18th, so take your pick and book your spot.

5 :: Take a walk

We reckon school hols are made for fresh air, muddy shoes and a bit of outdoor adventure.

The cooler weather is actually a win in our books. No scorching sun, fewer mozzies and just right for taking a stroll or roll. The Queanbeyan region is full of tracks and trails for little legs and big energy.

We’ve rounded up a bunch of family-friendly walks to help get everyone out of the house and into nature. Have a look here.

6 :: July School Holidays at Mona Farm

If ever there was an excuse to take a little Staycation with the crew, then this is it!

Mona Farm is going all out for guests staying during the School Holidays with complimentary family photoshoots on select dates as well as cool events like farm tours, baking classes, gardening sessions and even a hot air balloon ride!

Book your stay whilst there’s still availability.

7 :: Tennis Camps at Parkside Tennis Academy

Let the kidlets unleash their inner Ash Barty or Roger Federer with a Tennis Camp from Parkside Tennis Academy.

There are different options based on age and ability, so even if your little one has never picked up a racquet before, they can still have a swing.

8 :: Brophy’s Circus

Going to the circus is peak childhood memory-making material.

Brophy’s big top will be set up at Queanbeyan Showground all school holidays, so there’s plenty of time to catch a show.

Clowns, motorcycles, acrobatics and more. Sounds like a hoot to us!

9 :: Braidwood Academy of Creative Arts

There are two totally terrific workshops happening at the Braidwood Academy of Creative Arts these school holidays.

First up is the Puppet Making Workshop with Marianne Mettes from Puppetdoodle. It runs over two days, with junior sessions for ages 6 to 10 and senior sessions for ages 10 and up.

Also on offer is the Wollondilly Waste to Art Workshop, where kids can turn recycled materials into creative masterpieces and enter them into the Wollondilly Art Prize.

Phew, hopefully, that should keep our little darlings entertained for a good while.
