Quality, Australian-made, durable and safe. These things matter so much to Danny and Tina, the hardworking couple behind Resort Trailers.

Every product they offer is built to last, meets high Australian standards and gives locals peace of mind on the road.

They bring ideas to life with custom trailer designs and offer all the extras too, including rego checks, repairs, spares and more.

We had a great chat with these Bungendore locals [going back six generations!] and we’re sharing their story below.

1 // Can you tell us about the history of Resort Trailers?

Tina: Resort Trailers is in its 41st year this year. Danny has been working here for 23 years and has been the owner for about 22 years.

Danny: And Tina joined about 10 years ago. We’re based in Queanbeyan, and we live in Bungendore. Our kids are actually sixth-generation Bungendore locals, and our family property has been in Bungendore since 1886.

2 // What kind of trailers do Resort Trailers build?

Danny: We do a bit of everything. We build bespoke trailers which means customers can bring in their own designs, and we’ll work with them to make it happen. We also build classic standard trailers, tradie trailers, maintenance and repair work, servicing, refurbishments, resprays, and metal fabrication.

Tina: We’re the biggest trailer-building service south of Sydney, and we’re proud to focus on Australian-made products. We don’t import from overseas. We support local businesses as much as we can.

Danny: We’re also an authorised trailer inspection station for NSW pink and blue slips, as well as an ACT inspection station. A few years ago, we added gas strut fitting and adjusting to our services too. It made sense because we were using gas struts every day, so we figured, why not offer it to the public?

3 // What makes Resort Trailers such a unique business?

Danny: We care about quality, and we care about aftersales. If someone buys a trailer or a part from us, we don’t just send them on their way, we provide ongoing support.

Tina: Our trailers are built to last. We still see ones we made decades ago going strong. That matters to us. We were raised with the mindset of buying things that last, and we want to keep that going.

Danny: We meet people who bought a trailer from us 40 years ago, and it is still on the road. That speaks for itself.

4 // You put a lot of care into how your trailers are built, don’t you?

Tina: Yes, having everything built onsite means we can work closely with customers, keep them updated, and tweak things during the build if needed. No two custom trailers are the same, which is what really sets us apart.

Danny: We’ve also got a deep understanding of design, so we can help customers refine their ideas and provide practical solutions.

Tina: And we follow strict Australian design standards, which are much higher than those in many other countries. That means our customers get a safer, better-quality trailer.

Danny: We’re really passionate about trailer safety in Australia. We believe that every trailer, no matter where it was built, should meet these high standards if it’s on Australian roads.

5 // Community is important to you both as well?

Tina: Yep, we sponsor local football clubs, hot rod clubs, and the agricultural show. We’re always looking for ways to support those around us.

Danny: Recently, we also started doing pop-up stores in smaller, more remote communities. We’re heading out to places like Tarago, Braidwood, Bungendore, Sutton, and possibly even Goulburn and Cooma. We’ll be offering servicing, replacement parts, and after-sales support.

Tina: And we’re always on the lookout for local businesses whose products complement ours.

6 // Tell us more about those local products.

Danny: We stock AgBoss products, which are high-quality Australian-made farming tools. We have had gardening and landscaping businesses buy trailers with AgBoss packages from us, and they were so impressed with the quality that they came back for more, including shovels, rakes, and other gear.

Tina: Another great product we stock is called Aussie Man Hands, which is a hand cream designed for tradies. A friend of ours started it after noticing her son’s hands were getting dry and sore. It’s been a hit and people keep coming back for more!

Danny: We’d love to develop a small business expo that highlights Australian-made products. We think there’s a real need for something like that in our area.

7 // Always something exciting happening at Resort Trailers, right?

Danny: There is always a demand for quality trailers. Box trailers, cage and canopy trailers, camper trailers, car, bike, boat and jet ski trailers, mowing trailers, tradie trailers, tipping trailers. The list goes on. We are always looking for ways to grow and refine what we do.

Tina: We love when customers send us photos of their trailers in action. Whether they have helped someone move house, set up a new business or fixed up their garden, it makes it all worthwhile.

Danny: Running a small business means staying open to new ideas. We are consistently thinking about what is next.

8 // What do you love about living and working in the Queanbeyan region?

Tina: The small business community here is really special. We see such an eclectic range of people from electricians, gardeners, and all types of locals. It’s a reminder of how great this part of the world is.

We also love that so many local businesses, like us, focus on making and selling quality Australian-made products. It’s great to be part of that network.

Danny: Bungendore has always been home. It’s a happy, peaceful place to live, and it’s rewarding to be servicing a community we’re so connected to.

Tina: It’s all about the people. The stories, the relationships, and the way everyone backs each other. That’s what makes it special.

9 // And what do you get up to in your free time… if you have any?

Tina: Well we’ve got our cars and our horses.

Danny: We call it “horses and horsepower,” haha! Our daughters compete in agricultural shows with their horses, and we love going to hot rod and car shows as a family.

Tina: I’m also a director for Lids4Kids, and Danny is on the advisory council for the Motor Traders’ Association of NSW, so that keeps us busy.

Danny: And our kids have loads of activities, so we’re always following them around.

Tina: Oh, and we just got two dachshund puppies, Letty and Chevvy! That brings our dog count to four, and we love them.

Danny: Plus, when we get the chance, we love heading out to the farm. There’s nothing like
It.

Um, how awesome are Danny and Tina?!

And how doubly awesome is it that they’re backing Australian-made to offer trailers that are made for purpose and built to last?!
