Description
Kianinny Bay is a beautiful sheltered inlet in Tathra, known for its resident stingrays and pristine blue water.
It is a lovely spot for picnics and summer swims, often protected from the wind. Plunging into the sea from the jetty is a favourite pastime for locals and visitors in the warmer months.
Kianinny Bay was the port for the Bega area prior to the construction of Tathra Wharf and today is equipped with a well set up boat ramp and fish cleaning facilities. It is a popular launch point for deep-sea fishing adventures.
Kianinny Bay is home to the Tathra Amateur Fishing Club which holds regular fishing competitions.
The bay is fringed by Bournda National Park to the south. A track head for the 9-kilometre Kangarutha walking track can be found near the picnic area.
Chamberlain Lookout is located on the northern side above the bay, offering scenic coastal views.
Access to Kianinny Bay is via Kianinny Street, then last right turn down to the boat ramp area.
