A Guide to Dietary-Friendly Dining On The Sapphire Coast

SHARE

The Sapphire Coast sure is one tasty place to live.

And if you’ve got specific dietary needs or a loved one who does, you might be wondering where you can join in on all the yumminess.

We’ve rounded up a list of fantastic local eateries that cater to all types of eaters across the region.

Knives and forks at the ready, peeps!

You can take a sigh of relief at Toast Cafe. Here, you’re never that person – the one apologising for asking questions, or the one that always feels like they’re holding the table up. At Toast, your dietary requirements aren’t an afterthought, but front and centre.

Pretty much every dish on the menu has a “make it vegan” option. [Hazzah!] Think pancakes, toasted sandwiches, fritters and more! And the party doesn’t stop there – dairy free? Gluten free? Walk in the park…

And when we say gluten-free, we mean the good stuff- hello, GF Precinct buns and bread! So ah, what in the coconut cream are you waiting for?!

Who says folks who are gluten-free can’t enjoy pizza and pasta? Definitely not the crew at Bar Monti!

At this funky-cool Merimbula restaurant, both gluten-free pizza and pasta are available upon request and they also have dairy-free options too.

Open from 5pm Thursday to Monday, it’s a great shout for a taste of La Bella Vita!

A Bega cafe that is fully vegetarian. The crew here pride themselves on using fresh, local ingredients and we’re major fans.

Each week, they serve up delicious loaves of local Honourbread, and their menu is packed with options that cater to a variety of dietary needs.

Whether you’re gluten-free, dairy-free, vego or vegan, there’s something for everyone.  The food is absolutely mouth-watering, and the vibe is always welcoming.

They also have catering options, ideal for your next special event.

Cafe by day, as well as wine and snacks from afternoon to sundown, the lake views here are chef’s kiss.

We love that they focus on seasonal ingredients, and have plenty of vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free alternatives on the menu. They’re also all about minimal intervention wines that highlight the fruit and the land, sourced from small producers near and far.

Absolutely drooling over their charred cauliflower salad, and love the idea of being able to hire a boat, pedal boat, kayak and sup here as well. Now that’s versatility at its finest!

Plenty on the menu can be made gluten-free or dairy-free on request, with vegetarian options also available. The staff are known for being super friendly and accommodating.

After chowing down at the cafe, take a stroll along the Merimbula waterfront, and if you’ve got little ones, let them loose on the waterfront playground.

What a fantastic name for a vegetarian cafe!

Do you know what else is fantastic about this Bermagui eatery? They’re focused on supporting local businesses, backing Australia’s hemp industry, and keeping things ethical. Legends!

They’re open Wednesday to Sunday, 8am – 2pm so plenty of time to get your veggie fix.

Here they specialise in gluten-free meals, desserts and frozen pies as well as options for other types of dietary requirements. So cool that they have their own range of housemade sauces and condiments too.

Such a great spot to grab a seat, watch the fishermen at work, and munch on something delish.

The menu changes by season at this welcoming Cobargo cafe but they always endeavour to have gluten-free options on the menu.

Cosy up with something to read from the book corner on a cold or rainy day, or soak up the sun outside on the verandah when it’s shining.

Open for brekkie and lunch, they have plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free, vegan and vegetarian options.

The coffee roasted locally in Pambula is a hit and the cabinet is packed with house-made cakes, tarts and treats including raw, vegan and organic options.

We can’t go past a good sushi fix, and Nori Hub in Merimbula delivers.

They also offer soups, noodle dishes, salads and poke bowls with plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian options.

Open 6 days a week, closed Sundays.

One more for Asian food lovers.

Here you can grab dishes like sushi, rice paper rolls, noodles, stir fry dishes and the oh-so-popular bubble tea.

Again lots of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegetarian choices.

Hopefully, this list is helpful for our Sapphire Coast pals friends with dietary requirements. If you know of other restaurants on the Sapphire Coast that should be included, let us know.

The more options, the better!
