It’s a big, big continent, packed with diverse and exciting flavours.

Spices, colours, and aromas that make you droooool before the dish even hits the table.

For those craving a plate with punch, the Sapphire Coast delivers.

From umami-filled bowls of steaming ramen to divine dumplings and the Goldilocks mix of sweet and spicy in Thai dishes, there are plenty of Asian and Asian-inspired restaurants right on our doorstep.

No passport needed, just bring an appetite.

Umi-Ko Izakaya brings a fun and fresh take on Japanese dining.

Think share plates packed with flavour, from hearty bowls of ramen and katsu curry to sushi, sashimi, and Japanese-inspired bites, all with a creative twist.

Plenty of dairy-free, vego, and vegan options too, including a killer vegan ramen. Oishi!

We’ve actually got heart eyes for everything on the menu and wish we had a second, third and fourth stomach just so we could try it all in one sitting. Guess we’ll just have to stay regulars, hehe!

The fully licensed bar has sake, Japanese beers, and some seriously exciting cocktails. It’s a fab spot for a casual catch-up with mates but also has that romantic, intimate vibe that makes it an ideal choice for your next date night.

Open Tuesday to Saturday from 5pm until late, with takeaway for those keen to bring a taste of Nihon home.

Who doesn’t love a dumpling?

Those tasty little morsels have us hooked, and we can never stop at just one… or even just 10 hahaha!

Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday night PLUS Sunday lunch at Goodenia Restaurant & Bar inside Robyn’s Nest Lakeside Resort is dumpling night—wahoo!

Boiled, steamed, pan-fried, or in a soup, they’ve even got dessert dumplings. And we’ve yet to meet a bite here that isn’t absolutely delicious.

We recommend booking your spot to avoid dumpling disappointment… yes, it’s a thing!

Goodenia Restaurant & Bar

Inside Club Sapphire, you’ll find this Asian fusion spot, with a menu packed full of dishes that’ll throw a party on your taste buds.

How cool does Edamame Hummus sound?

Eggplant Katsu Bao, Sticky Gochujang Glazed Lamb Ribs, Curry Fries and Banana Lumpia for dessert?

Yes, yes and yes!

The cocktail menu is also full of tempting choices. Right now, we can’t stop thinking about getting our hands on a Lychee and Vanilla Daiquiri. Mmmm.

It’s popular for a reason.

The sushi and sashimi are fresh and buttery, the poke bowls are colourful and packed with flavour, and the miso soups and ramen are just what we need to warm up on those chilly Sapphire Coast days.

You can find Nori Hub on Market St in Merimbula, open 6 days a week from 11 to 3 [closed Sundays].

At this Bega spot, you can grab everything from sushi and rice paper rolls to noodles, stir fry dishes, and the oh-so-trendy bubble tea.

What’s your go-to order? Ours is the honey milk tea with passionfruit popping boba. Sah good!

Just a heads-up, they’re only open Monday to Friday from 11am to 5pm, so make sure to swing by on a weekday to get your fix.

With a name like that, you just know it’s going to be… well… yummy!

They’ve got all the Thai classics like Pad Thai, Pad Kra Pao, Tom Yum Goong, and those iconic Golden Bags.

Plus, eye-catching chef specials like Red Duck Curry, Choo-Chee Prawns, and Black Coconut Sticky Rice with Egg Custard.

Yummy Thai is open six days a week for dine-in or takeaway.

Another solid choice for some Thai goodness.

We’ve heard good things about the curry puffs, satay and of course the friendly service.

They are open 7 days a week for dine in and takeaway and you can book your reservation online through their website.

Fantastic that most of the mains here are gluten-free, with plenty of dairy-free options as well.

We’re always down for a Biryani, but the Beef Malabari Curry and Matar Mushrooms sound incredible. And, honestly, everything else on the menu does too.

Gotta get some naans and pappadums as well, obvs! Aaaaand how about Pistachio Kulfi for puds?!

We adore Malaysian food with its rich curries, spicy sambal, creamy coconut, fragrant herbs, tender meats and chewy noodles.

There’s a whole section on the menu just for vegetarian dishes so vegos can rejoice. The owners are always happy to give recommendations, and the regulars here are loyal… always a good sign.

Celebrating Indian cuisine with a modern twist.

Pop in Tuesday to Friday for a lunch special where you can nab curry and rice for less than 15 buckeroos.

Or come for dinner and chow down on a Cafe Tandoori Banquet, a platter, a chef’s special, and lots more.

They also have a kids’ menu so the littles can join in on the munching.

Curries, soups, noodles, salads, rice and wok-fried specialties.

We’re keen as beans to try the Macadamia Prawn and the Baked Duck.

It’s BYO, AND there’s an excellent selection of lunch specials there too. Score!

Choose from Vietnamese, Chinese, or Thai dishes. Even better, grab one of each.

Oooo, and fried ice cream for dessert… legendary!

How lucky are we to have so many amazing Asian flavours right here on the Sapphire Coast?

Okay so a trip to Tokyo or a street food feast in Bangkok does sound pretty great, but working through this list might be just as good!
