Stone Cladding Styles

When searching for natural stone cladding they fall under many search phrases and cut styles. Terms to consider when doing your research are: Natural stone wall cladding, stone cladding, stone walling, stone veneer and stone facades. This can confuse somewhat however generally they are all the same thing. A thin rock face with a sawn back to adhere to the substrate.

One consideration is the lay style, whether you install it with a grout line or tight lay it. Grout lines can range from 5mm to 15mm wide, whether they are raked out or washed out to give you a vintage look.

Tight laying is to lay the stone with the appearance of stacked stone with no grout line visible. Both styles have a considerable effect on the overall appearance and should be discussed with you stone mason before laying the stone cladding.
