About Shae
Hi, I’m Shae, a Southern Highlands-based Exercise Physiologist! I have worked with a broad range of clientele in the clinic, community and with clients in their homes.
My clinical focuses are:
- Providing the education, support and self-management strategies needed to empower my clients to best support themselves.
- Keeping sessions enjoyable.
- Progressing clients towards achieving their goals.
My special area of interest is disability-specific work.
Some examples of disabilities that I've supported my clients to manage include Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's Disease, acquired brain injuries, Autism, ADHD and mental illness.
I have further experience in:
- Parkinson's Disease (PD WARRIOR course June 2022)
- Chronic pain management
- Geriatric care/falls prevention
- Sports injury rehabilitation
- Pre/post-natal care
- Pilates (mat, reformer, cadilac table & wunda chair)
For fun, I enjoy hikes in nature, time at the beach & winter ski trips with friends.
Keeping moving with a range of different fun activities is my aim!
Exercise Physiology
Exercise Physiologists are allied health professionals with extensive university training in understanding the human body's response to exercise and the physical and mental benefits of exercise.
They use this knowledge to create an individualised, evidence-based clinical exercise intervention for people with a broad range of health issues to improve their functional capacity, movement performance and quality of life.
During an appointment...
You can expect:
- assessment of your functional capacity
- health education on management strategies for your particular circumstance and lifestyle modifications to improve your health status
- tailored exercise prescription for strength and function improvement
- supervised exercise to ensure correct technique with exercise modification as required
- an individualised exercise program for you to complete at home between appointments.
Pilates
Target core strengthening and overall body toning for injury prevention and management with Pilates rehab principles.
Reformer, cadilac table, wunda chair and mat Pilates are available.
Hydrotherapy
Local pools can be accessed for your appointment.
Hydrotherapy is beneficial for the management of many health conditions and is a fun way to move your body with reduced pain!
