If you’ve ever had to organise medical imaging, you’ll know it can come with a side of stress. The referral, the waiting, the unfamiliar setting, and that quiet worry while you’re hoping for answers. For many Southern Highlands locals, especially women needing specialised scans, where it has sometimes meant travelling to Sydney for certain services.

Resonant Medical Imaging Bowral was created to bring that level of care closer to home.

Recently opened in Bowral, Resonant is an independently owned medical imaging practice built around two clear priorities: high-quality imaging and a genuinely supportive patient experience. Early word-of-mouth has been strong, with locals commenting on how warm and reassuring the team is, and how much calmer they felt throughout the process.

At the heart of Resonant is husband-and-wife radiologist team Dr Gaya Jiang and Dr Damian Jiang, who are closely involved in both the clinical work and the patient journey. The practice is grounded in care, precision and trust from the moment you walk through the door.

A local service, built with the Highlands in mind

Dr Damian Jiang is a Highlands local, and together the couple have trained and worked across Australia and New Zealand. For Dr Gaya Jiang, the clinic’s strong focus on women’s health has been years in the making. Shaped by her experience in women’s and paediatric imaging, and by seeing first-hand the anxiety that can sit behind breast imaging and cancer investigations.

That understanding has shaped the clinic into a space where people feel heard, scans are thorough, and the experience is calm and considered, particularly for women navigating sensitive concerns.

Why women’s imaging matters

For many women, imaging appointments relate to deeply personal concerns. Pelvic pain, fertility journeys, endometriosis investigations, breast symptoms or postpartum changes. These experiences deserve sensitivity and care.

Resonant has intentionally created a women-first environment, including predominantly female staff, to help patients feel comfortable and supported. When people feel at ease, conversations tend to be clearer and more open, and that clarity plays an important role in quality care.

The team also shared that many women, particularly older women, have lived with certain symptoms for years without fully exploring them. Creating space for open discussion and thorough investigation helps ensure patients feel empowered to better understand their health.

Friendly and seriously thorough

Behind the scenes, the sonographers and clinicians collaborate closely, reviewing images together, discussing complex cases and investing in ongoing training. Imaging technology continues to evolve, and so does the team.

It’s a detail that matters. Great imaging relies on both advanced equipment and the skill and care of the people using it.

So, what services do they offer?

Resonant provides comprehensive ultrasound and mammography services, with a strong focus on women’s health and patient-centred care.

Ultrasound services include general, obstetric and gynaecological (including early pregnancy), breast, musculoskeletal, vascular and paediatric scans.

They also offer ultrasound-guided injections, fine needle aspiration and biopsy procedures where clinically appropriate.

On the mammography side, services include diagnostic mammography, 3D tomosynthesis and private screening options.

The clinic has also recently introduced contrast-enhanced mammography, an advanced imaging technique that can improve the accuracy of detecting breast cancers in patients with a moderate to high background risk. Patients interested in learning more can speak with their GP to see whether this service may be appropriate for them.

For patients requiring treatment following diagnosis, Resonant is currently offering a musculoskeletal ultrasound clinic on Wednesdays and Thursdays, where cortisone injections are bulk billed when patients present with a confirmed diagnosis and referral from their doctor. Walk-ins are also welcome.

How to book

In most cases, you’ll need a referral from your GP or specialist. Booking is simple. You can call or email the clinic directly, or submit an online appointment request via their website.

House & Land Packages – Easy Choice Or Hidden Obstacles?
Property

The Southern Highlands features a number of large and smaller land developments in the Moss Vale, Bowral and Mittagong areas. These are commonly known as `greenfield’ developments and feature master planned infrastructure – such as below-ground power, internet cabling, water and gas already installed and ready to go.

Builders and developers also take advantage of these greenfield opportunities by offering house & land packages – a sort-of `off-the-shelf’ option.

Bringing Nurse-Led Care Home In The Southern Highlands

Sometimes it’s not a dramatic emergency that lands someone in hospital. It’s the small things. The pressure injury that wasn’t picked up early. The medication side effect that didn’t quite seem “serious enough” to mention. The discharge instructions that weren’t fully understood once everyone got home. And often? It’s completely preventable.
