We couldn’t be prouder to celebrate Georgie Lewis, named this year’s Young Highlands Hero. And here’s the amazing part… She’s only 16!

Back in 2023, when Georgie was just 14, she pitched an idea at her local Moss Vale Golf Club. A “Pink Golf Day” to raise money for Breast Cancer Network Australia. Her goal was to raise $5,000. She ended up raising a whopping $10,000 in one day. Incredible, right?

And it didn’t stop there. When she brought the event back in 2024, she doubled the fundraising again, raising more than $22,000 for breast and prostate cancer support.

It’s safe to say, Georgie’s onto something pretty special here.

Georgie has been swinging a club since she was 8, and golf has always been more than just a game for her. It’s about community, connection, and doing good. So when she saw how the sport brought people together, she turned that energy into something truly impactful.

“Don’t wait to be older to make a change,” Georgie says. “Opportunities are everywhere. Start now, because your voice and your actions matter.”

And wow, did she prove it! Pink Golf Day has become the most successful fundraiser Moss Vale Golf Club has ever seen. Complete with pink tees, cupcakes, lemonade, and over 128 people getting involved.

Jenny Bott, Chair of the Southern Highlands Community Foundation, says “Georgie is a shining example of how one person, no matter their age, can make a difference. This is what we celebrate with Young Highlands Heroes.”

As the winner of the Young Highlands Hero Award, Georgie receives a $3,000 grant which she’s donating to Pop In Southern Highlands. A local charity that supports women and children impacted by domestic violence.

Between planning charity events and preparing for her Year 12 exams, Georgie has her hands full, but we already can’t wait to see what she dreams up next. Rumour has it, Pink Golf Day 2026 might be just around the corner…

Georgie, you are a true inspiration.
