And Why It’s Becoming A Firm Fave For Locals + Visitors to Mittagong
Okay, the Mittagong Hotel has been given one sexy makeover and it is looking mighty fine!
We’ve been in a few times since it reopened in February and made a list [cos’ we love a good list] of what we’re lovin’ about the new look, the jooshed up decor, the gorgeous accommodation, fab new menu and of course, the all important bevvie options.
Here’s why you should swing by if you haven’t already!
And if you haven’t, why you should go back again……
1 :: Stylish interiors
A collaboration between Sally Hieatt Interiors and local business, Luci.D Interiors, it was really important to the new owners that the heritage features were restored [the original facade is actually heritage listed], history preserved and embraced throughout the reno.
They even found 130 year old lacework through a hole out the back so worked hard to restore that.
Local tradespeople like Reid Brothers Furniture and John Winter Carpets were brought in to help bring it all together – from joinery to carpets, to artwork and furniture, you’ll find local touches everywhere which is awesome.
How good does it look??

2 :: More jobs for locals
25 new people were hired to join the team for the reopening and most of them are local – sooo good!

3 :: Connected, country pub
What do we mean by that? It’s a traditional pub in that it focuses on accommodation, paddock to plate food and beverage and creating spaces for locals to catch up with family and friends, rather than gaming being the focus.

4 :: The food is a mix of contemporary and traditional pub fare
And it’s top notch!
We’ve eaten there a few times and love the balance of old and new. Who doesn’t love a good parmie? But also sometimes you want to ramp it up and go for something a little unique like sashimi or beef tartare.
As for the star of the show, we recommend the rolled lamb shoulder…..yuuuuuum!
A new woodfire oven is also the heartbeat of the pub which is not just used for pizzas [which are also delicious BTW!] but also for baking, charring and smoking other dishes.

5 :: Alfresco vibes
The deck out the back has been redone and is a great spot to take in a sundowner with friends.
We love that the big tree out the back has become part of the deck and provides shade from the sun.
Another cute element is the tables for two positioned on the laneway if you enter from the car park out the back…..good spot for a lunch date or date night in the warmer months.

6 :: Local bevvies
It’s not just the team that’s local, there’s plenty of local wineries, breweries + distilleries represented in the fridges behind the bar, on tap and on the wine menu.
Cherry Tree Hill, St Maur Estate, Bendooley Estate, Dawning Day, Eden Brewery and Highlander Brewing Co are all represented. Nice one.

7 :: Dreamy + cosy accommodation
No problem getting a good night’s sleep in the newly refurbished accommodation rooms upstairs…..they’ve been redesigned with such style and care! The perfect mix of modern luxuries, heritage design and super stylish finishes.
There’s a range of King Rooms + Suites and Queen Rooms, all with bathrooms, internet access + A/C.

What a great reimagining of this space and a fab rejigged addition to the Main Street of Mittagong. Another awesome food + bevvie option for locals catching up with friends and family, or sneaky date nights, or just a quiet dinner by yourself…..we are lovin’ the new look.
Congrats to everyone involved!
You’ll find Mittagong Hotel at 89 Main Street in Mittagong – there’s parking out the back off Albert Lane. Book online here or roll up and have a bev in the front bar or out on the deck in the sunshine.
