Where to head for a refreshing G&T [or three!]

It’s World Gin Day on 10 June and what better way to celebrate the deliciousness of juniper than with a sneaky G&T locally? 

Now, we DO love a tasty G&T after work, before a meal, on a weekend, on a weekday…..on a day ending in Y…..you know how it goes. 

And because we’ve been around the Highlands traps / bars / pubs a bit – it’s our job, mmmkay? – and sipped a few G&T’s here and there, we’ve put together a list of some awesome spots to get your own botanical bevvie fix.

1 // Highlands Taphouse

Who loves sitting out the front of The Taphouse and watching the world drive by?

Pop a gin and tonic in your hand with a Southern Highlands Brewing beer chaser and some delicious beer cuisine, and you’ve got yourself the perfect finish to the working week right there

2 // Burrawang Village Hotel

A G&T with a view…..you can definitely order one of those at the local pub in Burrawang, thanks to the crackin’ view out the back!

We love sitting in the sunshine looking out across the rolling hills of Kangaloon and Wingecarribee Reservoir while sipping on a refreshing G&T.

Guaranteed to induce a wave of happiness with a side of smugness as you have your quintessential Highlands moment. 

3 // Gin Trading Co

Did you know the Highlands has it’s very own gin bar?

Gin Trading Co at Bistro Sociale in the Berida Hotel has over 100 varieties of local, imported, vintage, rare and craft gins –100!!!

Add a range of tonics and fancy garnishes into the mix and you’ll end up with a unique and super tasty G&T experience.

4 // Berrima Vault House

You can swing by Taylor’s Crown Inn at Berrima Vault House for a G&T Fridays to Sundays. Taylor’s is the street level bar and has a gorgeous vibe – the perfect mix of contemporary design and heritage respect. 

5 // Eden Brewery

The gang at Eden Brewery have a passion project called Renegade Spirits – we’re talkin’ Strawberry Gum and Blood Lime Gin, their Signature Dry Gin and the Australian Plum Gin, all distilled onsite and ready for you to taste at Eden Brewery in Mittagong. 
 

6 // Robertson Public House & Kitchen

This is an awesome collab we have totally got on board with. Robertson Public House and South Coast Distillery have created a delicious gin – called Three Creeks Gin [Robertson’s original name] and using Robertson spring water. Cool hey? 

7 // Mittagong RSL

The Ironstone Bar at Mitta RSL serve up a mean gin and tonic (that means it’s good!). 

8 // Surveyor General Inn

Another awesome place to watch the world go by.

Order a gin and tonic at the Surveyor General Inn Berrima, then take a seat on the veranda out the front and people-watch in this gorgeous, historic Highlands village. 

9 // Bundanoon Hotel

A fab range of gins and types of tonic on offer at this local favourite. We love the glasses they’re served in too – fancy!! 

Sip by the fire in winter or head outside to the sun dappled beer garden to partake in a tipple on a lovely, warm day. 

10 // The Royal Hotel

Catching up with the girls for evening aperitifs?

The Royal’s back deck on the Station Street side of this iconic pub in Bowral is the perfect spot for G&T sundowners [the outdoor open fire rocks in the cooler months]. 

It’s bright and sassy, just like you and the G&T you’ll be drinking.

11 // Wine Mosaic Lounge

Sure, these guys know their wine inside out, but they’re right across their spirits too.

Last time we were at Wine Mosaic for dinner, Sue suggested a cheeky G&T for the girls for a pre-dinner aperitif and it sure hit the spot!

Tasty gin served with delicious dirty tonic [that’s a good thing, people] and our palates were jumping, ready for dinner.

These are just a few of our faves, but most of our local pubs and bars serve up a crackin’ G&T – here’s a list of Bars and Pubs in the Southern Highlands to work your way through.

Oh, and if you prefer to have your G&T at home, pop into Birch Store in Moss Vale – they stock a very cool non-alcoholic gin mixer from Monday Distillery for those who love the tipple without the ouch-my-head-hurts part.

You can also stock up on local gin made right here in the Highlands – we love the gin from Sohi Spirits, Artemis Wines and Joadja Distillery – all sooooo good.
