Why We’re Loving Eschalot This Season

All the amazing fun to be had at this gorgeous Berrima restaurant.

Right in the heart of Berrima village is one of the Highland’s most beloved restaurants.

Matty Roberts and Cass Wallace have been serving us up deeeelish food and super lovely service for quite some time now and this summer season is no different.

Here are some of the excellent things happening at Eschalot over the next few months that you most definitely don’t wanna miss out on.

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve celebrations.

We’re so lucky because this year Eschalot is giving us two Eve’s for a gastronomical eleganza extravaganza.

On both Chrissy Eve and New Year’s Eve, you can book yourself in for their ‘Chef’s Feed Me’ menu. Think smoky, festive goodness cooked in front of you on their amazing ‘asado a la cuz and parilla’, which is a type of impressive outdoor BBQ. There’ll be champers under the grapevines too, oh so dreamy!

If you haven’t been to Eschalot before [then you’re defo missing out] and you might not know what this type of menu is all about. Basically chef/owner Matty will be showcasing amazing local and seasonal produce with tons and tons of flavour.

Because these menus are so seasonal and special no two nights will be the same meaning you totes can book yourself in for both and still be excited and delighted!

At $110 per person for the Christmas menu and $150 with a complementary glass of bubbles for the NYE we think this is amazing value for how incredible the meal is set to be. Children are also welcome and even fur babies can come on down and sit outdoors in the courtyard whilst you dine. What a way to spend such a special festive time together.

Get together with the crew for December

Eschalot will be open at their regular times for the month, Thursday for dinner and Fri, Sat + Sun for both dinner and lunch.

If you can’t make it to their Christmas or NYE feasts but still want to head here to celebrate with loved ones then there are plenty of opportunities to do so.

At just $95 per person for the shared menu, anyone who’s recently dined out in the big smoke knows what an amazing deal that is for such fantastic food. This one’s perfect for groups of 2 or more and comes with a range of changing share plates that are mouth-wateringly good.

Think dishes like sumac, peppercorn + pomegranate lamb shoulder, mint + rose labneh or pork belly, caramelised pineapple, banana + capsicum, drool! Like their other menus, this one changes with the seasons. It’s always a wonderful surprise each time you visit because you never know what delicious dishes they’ll be serving up.

They’ve also got their seasonal a la carte menu that’s regularly changing as well. But think dishes like miso roasted aubergine, sesame aioli, goji dukkah or Eschalot iced vovo, marshmallow, raspberry jel, sorbet & coconut…. Drooling.

And let’s be real, we can’t emphasise enough how great the prices are here. You’re getting top-notch quality food at prices that aren’t much higher than what you’d pay at a pub [not that we don’t love our pub food too]. Man, we’re seriously lucky to have Eschalot here in the Highlands.

An ideal gift

If there are friends or family members you’ve been meaning to catch up with at Eschalot but can’t fit it in before the 31st, why not treat them to a voucher?

Or if you’ve got a foodie friend who’s all about eating the good stuff, this voucher is definitely up their alley.

Wanna win at Secret Santa this year? Eschalot’s got you!

Expecting family or friends from out of town during the holidays? Boom, welcome gift sorted!

Got someone special in your life who’s overdue for a date night? Bam, it’s done!

Just looking to put something in your own stocking this year? Gooo ooon!

You can grab your Gift Cards through the Eschalot website with options starting from $50, you can bet we’ll be asking for one of these off Santa ourselves this year.

We cannot wait to get down to Eschalot over the next few weeks and we doubly cannot wait to see you there.
