Easter High Tea sounds like a tradition we could totally get behind!
The gorge Franquette Creperie will be open all long weekend for lunch and dinner for all your delicious feasting. The Galettes and Galettes Salad options all sound incredible but make sure to save room for a dessert crepe because after all it’s Easter and it only makes sense you enjoy a dessert filled with Kirsch cherries, dark choccy, Belgium chocolate and whipped cream, right?
For other awesome eating options around town head to our food and drink directory.
Just remember not all businesses will be open over the long weekend so it’s best to call ahead and book your spot.
2 :: Head to Burrawang!
The Burrawang Easter Markets are back and we are soooo excited!
A huuuuge annual event, thousands come along to this fab market on Easter Saturday – there’ll be over 200 market stalls selling everything from food to fashion, arts, crafts, handmade artisan items and stacks more.
The main road will be closed for the market and this gorgeous little village has SUCH a vibe on this day.

Support local artists by heading out on a self-guided art gallery tour of the Highlands. Start with this list here, and be sure to swing by Retford Park for the inspiring ’34 Degrees South’ exhibition.

5 :: Rowany Festival
Hear ye, hear ye, lords and ladies of the Southern Highlands! Rowany Festival is bringing a grand celebration of all things medieval.
There’s plenty to see and do, from singing at the Bardic Circle to dancing at two grand balls. Guild meetings, the Laurel Prize showcase, and hands-on arts and sciences workshops offer something for every history enthusiast.
For those after a bit more action, combat tournaments in fencing, archery, and heavy fighting will keep things exciting.
The Village Green market is the place to shop, with Market Day transforming the tavern into a colourful medieval bazaar. Young adventurers are in for a treat too, with arts, crafts, story time, and boffer fighting on the schedule.
Tickets are available for one day, the whole event and even onsite camping.
6 :: Pig day out
It’s fun and raucous, family-friendly AND there’s going to be fundraising too.
The Friendly Inn at Kangaroo Valley knows how to throw an Easter shindig and the Pig Day Out is no exception.
Cheer on the cutest little piggies as they race for a bowl of cream and milk, raise some money for the local community groups [you not the piggies], take in some live music, kick back in the beer garden with family and friends and reall settle into that country long weekend vibe the valley does so well.
7 :: Head outdoors and get active
We love this time of year for heading into the great outdoors – the wriggly sticks are heading off to hibernate, the mornings and evenings are crisp, cool and perfect for getting active without losing your body weight in sweat!
Head to our Outdoors and Adventure Hub for a comprehensive guide of local walks and rides to hit up this long weekend.
Things are still a bit damp out there, so wear old shoes or get your boots on!
8 :: Respect and reflect
The Easter long weekend is an important opportunity for many Highlanders to stop and reflect. Here’s a list of local churches and places of worship where you can do just that.
9 :: Fire it up!
Us Highlanders love a good fire pit, right? And autumn is perfect for catching up with friends and family around an open fire with a few delicious local wines, frothies or spirits [just to warm you up from the inside too, okay?].
If you’re missing the main attraction, head to BBQ legends Pig & Pilgrim or Highland Fires & BBQs and grab yourself a fire pit – they both stock an awesome range to get you going.
Head to Bendooley Estate Larder or a local delicatessen to stock up on all things deli, cheesy, snacky and delicious if you’re up for making your own grazing platter.
Be sure to pop into Flour Bar to load up on baked goodies and hot cross buns to be the most popular person around the fire pit. The Cupcake Co. will be open all long weekend and will no doubt have some adorably themed treats to takeaway.
Oh, and try out our Aussie S’Mores recipe too – this one has an Easter twist!
10 :: Get out and groove
Of course, we’re never against taking advantage of the looooong weekend and all those opportunities for a late night and a lie-in by heading out to a local bar or pub with your mates for a catch-up!
Here’s a list to get you started. Remember to drink responsibly and buy local booze where you can!
There you go!
Something for everyone!
And you can keep an eye out for more Easter events as they pop up here.
Happy Easter, Highlanders!
