WINTER WARMERS :: Celebrating Winter in The Southern Highlands

While we readily admit that trackie-daks and Uggs should form part of any well-balanced winter wardrobe, we also believe that there comes a point when one must step away from the slippers and make plans that necessitate ‘leave-the-house’ attire.

The Fold is committed to doing what we can to prevent this from happening to you. Check out our list of happenings across the Highlands that are bound to have you swapping your Snuggie for snazzy boots and blazer.

And make sure to keep an eye on our event directory for all the haps around the town over June, July and August.

Winterfest

Bundanoon’s celebration of all things winter kicks off on the 5th of July with a Christmas in July dinner at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall. On Saturday the 6th there will be a Children’s Concert in the hall followed by the Winterfest Street Party in the centre of town. All of downtown Bundy will come alive with food stalls, rides and loads of entertainment for the whole fam-bam.
On Sunday the 7th, Bundanoon Primary will open up for a wonderful Makers Market and then the weekend will finish up with a “Grease” sing-a-long back at the Soldiers Hall. Loads of wintery fun to enjoy!

Savour the Unexpected Winter Festival

We are so excited about this Highlands winter festival held over two weekends at the end of June. There’ll be good food, good drinks and good times all around.

From the opening night Cocktail Circus party to the Garden Opera, Solstice Cabaret and Artsy Fartsy Boozy Foody Project, and more, everything sounds awesome, and we seriously want to attend them all.

Families will also love MIDWINTER as part of the festival on the 22nd. This free event held at Ngununggula will have live music, local food, arts and crafts and of course, Burning Man to keep us warm and light up the night.

Cosy Fireplaces

With so much frosty fun to get through, you’ll need to find a spot to chill that is family friendly, has great food and service and of course, a roaring fire. Here’s a list of some of the fireplace-adorned hangouts we adore.

Christmas in July

Christmas comes but twice a year to the Southern Highlands! For Yuletide celebrations with all of the trimmings and none of the stress, take a peep at all of the Christmas in July celebrations hosted by fabulous venues all around the Highlands. Any excuse for mulled wine, a delicious roast and pudding, we say!

Live and Local

We love live music here at The Fold. We also love visiting our local pubs, bars and clubs to support the live music scene in The Highlands. They’re always so cosy and warm! Or if you need to elevate the body temperature a little bit more, there’s nothing like a boogie on the dance floor to warm yourself up! Check out local entertainment options and performances for the winter months in our Event Directory.

High Tea

There’s something a little magical about high tea, don’t you think? Delicate finger sandwiches, teeny tiny pretty desserts – it almost seems a shame to pop them in your mouth! – and of course, scones with jam and cream. Add in a cup of tasty tea and some champers and you’ve got yourself a fabbo high tea experience. Right, that just made us super hungry….guess we’re going to need our guide of where to head in The Highlands for some delicious high tea.

A plethora of fantastic ways to celebrate the colder months. Bring it on, we say!
