Loads of events, activities, and ideas to keep the little rascals busy these July school holidays!
Ready or not, the school holidays are coming up fast!
The winter ones can always be a bit of a toughie when it comes to keeping the kiddos entertained, because let’s face it, it’s cold out there… brrr!
Luckily, there are a ton of activities to keep the little ones busy, active, and happy and warm!
Check out this awesome list of things for kids to do in the Southern Highlands this Winter school break. For even more fun, head to our Event Directory!
1 // Free Holiday Workshops for Teens
Big kids aren’t missing out these school holidays with these cool holiday art workshops presented by The Country Artists’ Association Inc.
The workshops are free and happening at the Bowral Bowling Club with local artist Mary Lou Pavlovic.
Week 1 will be all about painting abstract nature scenes inspired by Aussie artists Joan Blond, Hayley Mischief-Lord, and Deb McNoughton. And in week 2 they’ll be making giant recycled polystyrene robots, just like American artist Michael Salter.
All materials and refreshments are provided.
2 // Juniors Rugby Skills School Holiday Camp
For any kid who loves their sports ball oval-shaped, this rugby camp is a must! From the 8th-10th of July, they’ll sharpen their rugby skills and have a blast.
Organised by the Bowral Rugby Juniors they’ll be learning Individual skills safety in contact and tackle techniques, catching and passing, as well as building confidence and teamwork.
As a bonus for the grown-ups, you can bet they’ll sleep well that weekend after all the running around!

3 // Holiday Horse Riding Program
Giddy up for this Horse Riding Program with The Grange Equestrian.
It’s running on several dates throughout the July holidays, but these sessions fill up fast. If you’ve got a little equine fan, book them in quick to avoid disappointment.
4 // Bundanoon Winterfest
It’s back just in time for school holidays yay!
This year’s Winterfest will be held from the 5th to the 7th of July and is set to be a weekend of fab family fun.
Saturday the 6th will see most of the action with a children’s concert, street party and rides and games.
We reckon there’d be some kiddos who would also be down for the Christmas in July dinner on the 5th or the “Grease” Sing-along on the 7th as well.

5 // Cooking Up A Storm
Do you have a kid who plays the movie Ratatouille on repeat?
Let them channel their inner Remy [minus the rat part, of course] with one of the cooking classes held by The Community Cooking School over the school holidays.
From Chinese to Mexican cuisine, they’ll whip up delicious dishes that might just become regulars at your dinner table!
6 // Castle Kingdom at MVSC
Moss Vale Services Club is bringing us ALL THE INFLATABLES in the first week of the school holidays.
Think Giant Slide, Climbing Wall, Obstacle Course, Jumping Castles—and a special area just for toddlers.
This one’s perfect for keeping out of the cold or on those unlucky rainy days.
Tickets are $15 with no booking required. It is cash only though so come prepared.

7 // Move and Learn School Holiday Program
This program run by Effect Exercise Physiology aims to make exercise fun for kiddos while working on skills like communication, fine motor abilities, gross motor skills, coordination, and aerobic endurance.
There are sessions with carers involved, providing extra support for children needing it, as well as sessions without carers, which encourage independence for those who are ready.
8 // Day Camps with The Outdoor Education Group
Get the kids away from the screens and into one of these awesome outdoor adventures.
From mountain biking to archery, canoeing, bushwalking, orienteering and more, the second week of the school holidays is all about testing themselves and trying new things.
The activities are designed for kiddos aged 8–13 and there is a handy bus that will drop them off and pick them up each day from Moss Vale Public School, Bowral Public School or Lake Alexandra Reserve.
