As another school year gets underway, Frensham Junior School in Mittagong is opening its doors for its first Open Day of 2024.

If you’re curious about what life might look like for your child if they were a student at this wonderful and welcoming school then the open day is a great opportunity to find out more.

Here’s what you can expect if you plan to visit:

About The School:

Formerly known as Gib Gate School, this is the leading academic preschool and primary school in the Southern Highlands. Spread across 10 acres, this school gives children all the room they need to grow and explore. We’re talking tennis courts, a huge sports field, and a playground with in-ground trampolines, tunnel slides and a sky-climber.

At Frensham Junior School students can expect a totally unique culture of learning that’s all about adventure, belonging, facing and overcoming challenges, being involved, striving for excellence and giving back.

Their one-of-a-kind Jamieson Program sounds so exciting because it focuses on critical and ethical thinking, outdoor education, studying a second language and hands-on inquiry learning. These are all things we think the kids of today truly need.

The learning done here is personalised to the students, treating every child as an individual who has their own unique gifts and talents [love to hear it!].

The school has access to brilliant science and technology facilities for all your budding little scientists and a library full of reading wonders that students can use to explore their interests. Students also get the opportunity to play loads of awesome sports including cricket, basketball, hockey, netball, soccer, swimming, tennis and even water polo.

Also, there are plenty of opportunities for your kiddos to pursue other interests like performing and visual arts, as well as extracurricular activities like music tuition, gymnastics, cooking, gardening, craft and robotics.

We adore the idea of a school that truly fosters kids to become the best versions of themselves whilst also taking in their own unique and special abilities and that’s why we’re big fans of everything Frensham Junior School has to offer.

Frensham Junior School Open Day- Saturday, March 9, 2024.

The Open Day will be on the second Saturday in March and starts at 11:00am. Visitors can expect a tour of the campus, led by the students themselves. Who better to show you around than the children who actually go there, and know it so well?!

Visitors also get to enjoy a Land for Wildlife walk on the campus during their tour. Frensham Junior School has been designated as a Land for Wildlife site by the Wingecarribee Shire Council, this means that the students work closely with local community Aboriginal and Landcare groups to create a habitat that supports the regeneration of native flora and fauna. You’ll get to see trees the students have planted as well as the Aboriginal bush tucker garden, so good!

After the tour, there’ll be STEM, Music and Craft demonstrations so you can see some of the awesome things students of the school learn about as well as some of the amazing projects they work on.

Following the demonstrations, you can expect a presentation from the Head of the school, Lucy Gregory as well as lunch. The open day should finish around 1 pm.

If you think your little ones might benefit from a school that’s full of adventure, challenge and critical thinking as well as plenty of enriching extracurricular activities then we recommend signing up for and coming along to this open day.

Head here for more info about the day as well as how to register your spot.

We think the Frensham Junior School Open Day is a really great way to dip your toe [or whole foot] into what life might be like for a student at this awesome Highland’s school and encourage anyone curious to register their interest.
