This absolute gem in Bowral deserves some love and we’re here to give it.
Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa is a well-known and well-loved Highlands venue, and we know why.
From fascinating history to stunning grounds and gardens, delish dining and a super sophisticated bar, this place is just everything.
Check out our list below of 10 reasons we just adore Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa.
1 // The History
Boy does this place have some historical charm. Established in 1910 and originally known as Mansfield Farm, it was owned by Anthony Horden an O.G ‘most eligible bachelor’ about town. With European Villa Influences and French and Federation detailing, this stunner has been a part of Highlands history ever since.
It took its place as a country house hotel in the 1980s and by the 1990s it became part of the Aman Resorts family, a preeeetty luxury resort collection.
In 2023 the property was acquired by Salter Brothers [who also own Spicer’s Retreat and totes know how to make a place lush].
There is a fair chunk of historical beauty all around the place and a visit will confirm it. You can read more about the history of the property on their website or head on down and take a gander for yourself.

2 // The Rooms
Talk about a luxurious vacation / staycation guys! There are 44 different rooms on the property with some loooverly views. The bathrooms are marble, the pillows are plush, the furniture is French and the beds are comfy, what more could you ask for?
Treat yourself or that special someone to a stay in one of their rooms, heck why not go all out and treat yo’ self to the Forest Suite with a four-poster bed and open gas log fire…. aaah dreamy.

3 // The Dining
With a few different options for dining at Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa, you really are spoilt for choice.
Book a table at Hordens [named after the bachelor himself] for signature a la carte eats. Think incredibly delish dishes and award-winning wines. The Executive Chef weaves his French flair to make magic on every plate. We are drooling over dishes like succulent steaks and Crab Rillette with tropical Creole influences. There are even tasting menus for those who just can’t decide [us, that’s us.]
The Orangerie [obsessed with that name btw] is their special event restaurant for birthdays, weddings and exclusive events and OMG it is beautiful! Such an amazing option for those special occasions with a cosy open fireplace and views of both the garden and pool, you’re sure to make lasting memories here.
The Conservatory is a super sweet spot for hotel guests to enjoy brekkie, overlooking the gorgeous gardens [we’ll get to just how gorge they are later.] Guests get to enjoy a lavish buffet of pastries, fruits, and juices along with yummy indulgences. Oh, and there’s barista made coffee too, yay!
The Terrace is also a hotel guest-exclusive spot where guests can enjoy morning and afternoon tea, as well as light lunches. Even more of an excuse to book a stay.

4 // The Bar
The Polo Bar is just all elegance and opulence daaahling and we just can’t get enough. A long list of cocktails, imported beers, deluxe spirits, single malts, fine ports and aged cognacs + local and imported vino.
If you’re coming for dinner at Hordens make sure to arrive early for some aperitifs or pre-dinner drinks.
Or if you’re looking for a quiet spot for an intimate drink, The Polo Bar could be your spot.
5 // The Wellness Spa
Known as one of the top spas in Oz, the Wellness Spa is all love for the mind, body & soul! Locals, this one’s for us. Leave life’s worries behind and sink into their peaceful and calming atmosphere. Their expert therapists offer top-notch treatments, with incredible products that are total bliss. You need to take a look at their treatment menu. We feel more relaxed already.
There’s also a fully equipped gym, stretch studio, indoor heated pool, hydrotherapy pool, steam room & sauna, tennis courts, walking and jogging tracks and even full-time tennis coach and personal instructor onsite for the lucky guests.
6 // The Leisure Escapes
There are so many amazing leisure escape packages to choose from for the perfect gift [either to yourself or someone else, we don’t judge].
If that special someone in your life needs a loved-up break check out the Romance Package, The Gourmet Package or Fine Dining Package is defo for the foodies and the Spa Package is an excellent way to get your relax on. Check out the full list of Escapes here.

7 // The Gardens
Um, hello garden gorgeousness. Seriously, the gardens around the property are stunning and are basically world-renowned.
They were designed by the English School of Landscape and are actually the only works undertaken outside of Europe by them.
Strolling through the grounds you’ll spot Oaks, Elms, Beeches, Maples and Rhododendrons to name a few.
This garden honestly has to be seen to be believed and is a perfect post/pre-lunch stroll at Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa.

8 // The Event Spaces
Weddings at Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa are proper gorge and the venue really is a fantastic option. There are multiple options for reception locations, they have great connections with wedding suppliers they can put you in touch with and are open to enquiries all year round.
The Orangerie is such a great option to book for a birthday or special event with loved ones, like anniversaries or engagements, we adore the open fire and luxurious set up of the space.
Milton Park Country House Hotel & Spa is also a top-notch venue for other events including conferences and they even offer some fantastically fun team-building activities. [Note to our editor- wink wink.]
