Prioritise Your Health This Women’s Health Week 5th September

It only takes 30 minutes…

Ladies, we’ve all been there…….you know when you have that niggling feeling that something isn’t right?

It might be a bit of breathlessness or you’re more tired than usual, regular headaches have kicked in or you just know something isn’t quite right with your overall health.

So what do you do?

Many of us push that mental note aside and making that appointment ends up at the bottom of a never-ending to do list, coming in last behind making kids lunches, dropping kids off to soccer training, picking kids up from drama class, helping teenagers get through being a teenager (we feel ya!), sitting through another school concert you’ve probably whipped up a costume for….and don’t even get us started on Book Week!

And then there’s work.

Most women are juggling part time or full time work or running a business while also managing family life.

Stress levels are high and most of us are running on adrenalin which is not good for our short term OR long term health.

But it’s okay ladies, we’re not here to scare the bejesus out of you.

In fact, we’re here to let you know there is something you can do today to take control of your health and wellbeing – and it will only take 30 minutes of your time.

Women’s Health Clinic – Walker Street General Practice

The team at Walker Street General Practice absolutely get that our lives are busier than ever. That’s why they’ve launched a Women’s Health Clinic – the first in the Highlands – to conduct comprehensive and individually tailored women’s health checks.

What a great initiative for women of the Highlands!

Dr Amanda Hipwell and Dr Jessica Hines make up the team of talented female doctors running the clinic, and all agree being proactive is the key.

“Women’s Health Week encourages women to maintain a healthy lifestyle and prioritise their health,” Dr Hines says.

“One of the simplest ways to take control of your wellbeing is to be proactive about scheduling regular check-ups. It’s best to be on the front foot, rather than two steps behind where health is concerned.”

The appointment is tailored to your needs, with current health concerns and past history considered.

The consultation may include a physical examination, heart and blood pressure check, cervical screening test (how many of us put THAT one off??), breast examination, pre or post-menopausal advice and lots more.

Womens Health

“Most of the time everything is fine, and our patients leave feeling confident they’re in good shape or with some strategies on how to improve aspects of their wellbeing,” Dr Hines says.

“Sometimes the check-up will pick up some health problems that require further investigation. But that’s a good thing! It means we can start investigating and detect any health issues at an early stage before they develop into more serious chronic conditions.”

Book your appointment

How do you book?

Ladies, pull out your diary or your smart phone, put aside 30 minutes – just 30 minutes in your schedule – head to the  Walker Street General Practice website and click on the Book Appointment icon at the bottom right of the web page to lock in a time for a check-up.

Or you can give them a call on 4861 3855.

It’s that easy!

It’s time to prioritise your health and look after yourself, wonder women! Because who’s going to look after your family if you can’t?
