A Year In Review At The Techery

We chatted with the lovely Casey and Nicole from The Techery about all their highlights this year and their exciting plans for the future.

12 months of smart moves and big wins, plus more amazing things to come.

Woah! What a year it has been for the fantastic local biz, The Techery

The crew have built their business around providing reliable rural internet and have expanded into smART home solutions and event WiFi, making tech more accessible and practical for locals.

Their passion for smART tech and home automation has only grown this year. They’re still focused on offering essential internet services for rural areas while also exploring new ways to make life easier and more connected for Highlanders.

We chatted with the lovely Casey and Nicole from The Techery about all their highlights this year and their exciting plans for the future. It was such a joy to hear about a local business smashing it, as well as how they’re teaming up with other local businesses to keep that momentum going.

Supporting Local Events

A highlight for The Techery in 2024 was supporting fab local events with their WIFI.

The Techery team joined forces with local event organisers after working with the Burrawang Easter Market Committee who realised they were stuck without a way to process payments in areas with no 4G signal.

“It’s made a huge difference for these events,” Nicole said.

“Once we got involved, the organisers and vendors could process payments and offer a much smoother experience for everyone,” Casey explained.

And in exciting news, the team are already looking forward to setting up WiFi for the Kangaroo Valley Show next year.

“Events like these are really what we’re about,” says Casey. “Helping the local community run better, whether that’s through better internet access or just providing a helping hand when they need it.”

We love that, thanks to The Techery, we can finally pay how we want at these kinds of events. No more stopping at the ATM on the way, phew!

Growing With NBN And New Partnerships

This year, The Techery also added NBN services to their lineup, and they’ve become POP.U.LAR!

With around 185 new connections so far, it’s obvious there’s a real need for reliable, affordable internet in the Southern Highlands.

“The community has really embraced it,” Nicole says.

“It’s been awesome to offer a local solution that’s still competitively priced with the big telcos.”

This means locals can access faster, more reliable internet, making a big difference for both families and businesses.

And it’s so cool that The Techery’s work with NBN services has also led to more collaborations with other businesses.

“Once we started offering NBN, we found we could help businesses with so many other tech issues too,” Nicole said.

From website support to Office 365 licensing, they’ve been able to offer full-service tech solutions for businesses of all sizes.

“We’re pros at Microsoft licensing now,” Casey joked.

They’ve also built some great partnerships this year. For example, their collaboration with All In Gate Motors on smART gates has been a cracking success. The crew at All In Gate Motors handle the gate motor setup while The Techery works on integrating the automation, like intercom systems and WiFi extensions.

“We’ve been able to come together with local businesses to create tech solutions that work for everyone,” Nicole said. “It’s great to see small businesses teaming up and trying new things.”

This growing collaboration with local businesses has been a wonderful part of their success this year. From working with electricians to builders, they’re growing their network.

“The Southern Highlands has so many talented businesses, and we love working with them,” Casey added.

“The more we collaborate, the more we learn, and the better we can serve the community.”

Making Highland Homes smARTer

The Techery are pros at working with existing homes to make them smARTer, and now they’re getting more involved with new builds, too!

“It’s exciting to help people plan and create the tech setup from the ground up,” Nicole says, “We love the creative side of it.”

Whether it’s setting up automated lights, heating, or blinds, The Techery is helping homeowners bring smART tech to life in ways that make everyday tasks simpler.

For the team, it’s not just about installing tech, it’s about creating a smooth, easy experience for their customers.

“When we start with a new build, we can really get creative with what’s possible,” Casey says. “Working with the latest technology means we can offer solutions that are more efficient, cost-effective, and fun.”

The team loves the challenge of improving both new builds and existing homes, always looking for ways to make life easier with tech.

Seriously, imagine arriving home after a long day and having the lights turn on, the heating kick in, and the blinds come down, all without lifting a finger and before even stepping through the door. And this dream can actually be a reality thanks to The Techery!

Celebrating Growth And Wins

Big congrats to The Techery for winning the Outstanding Specialised Business award at the Southern Highlands Local Business Awards this year!

Winning such an incredible award is a massive milestone and a sign of all the hard work they’ve put in. But what really drives the peeps at The Techery is the relationships they’ve built and the people they get to help along the way.

“We love helping out our community,” Casey tells us.

“It’s such a rewarding feeling to know that the work we’re doing is making life easier for people.”

Whether it’s helping a small business with tech support or working with a family to make their home smarter, The Techery’s focus has always been on offering personalised service that suits each customer’s needs.

Their team has grown stronger too, with each member bringing their own skills and ideas to the table.

“Our techs are incredible,” Nicole adds. “They’re always researching new products and finding cool ways to incorporate tech. And the best part is, they’re all passionate about it.”

We love that The Techery focuses on providing flexible solutions that work for each customer.

“We work in a way that’s more affordable, more adaptable, and less restrictive,” Casey explains.

“At the end of the day, it’s all about making sure our customers have the best experience possible.”

One of the main reasons they can offer this level of service is their close-knit team culture.

“We listen to each other, support each other, and trust each other,” Nicole said. “We have that one common goal of making tech work for our customers.”

Looking Ahead to a Bright Future

We’re soooo excited to see The Techery keep growing.

And as Casey and Nicole told us, they’re keen and ready to work with even more local builders and businesses on smart home projects.

“We really care about making the process easy and fun for everyone,” Nicole said. “We want to make tech accessible and enjoyable, without overwhelming people with all the tech talk.”

No matter how much they grow, customer service will always be a priority for them.

“It’s about taking the time to listen to our customers,” Casey says, “we will always have time for whatever the community needs.’

“We’re excited for what’s to come,” Nicole adds. “We can’t wait to keep helping people, working with local businesses, and making tech more accessible for everyone.”
