Learning all about the tree-mendous work this local duo gets up to around town.
Forget ‘Bring Your Kid to Work Day’. It’s now officially ‘Bring The Fold to Work Day’ as we learn the ropes [literally] from expert arborists Alex and Zac from Highlands biz Pristine Tree People.
Both Alex and Zac have a wealth of experience and knowledge in the tree industry. They are experts in securing hazardous trees and were even involved in bushfire operations back in 2019 and 2020.
They’re a dynamic duo who really focus on listening to the locals they work with to ensure their projects deliver exactly what they’re looking for and come out tree-mendous!
We hung out with them recently as they went to work cutting some Silver Poplars down around a local farming dam.
Hard hats on, and let’s go!

The Brief
Alex and Zac were given the task of cutting down Silver Poplar around a client’s dam. The trees needed to be removed so that the client could gain access to their dam.
“When we chatted with the client, he told us that he needed to dredge the dam, but there isn’t a very clear walkway to it. It’s our job to help him with that by taking these trees out and away,” says Zac.
Okay, so we’ve got our brief. It’s time to get started, right guys?

The Challenges
Every site that Pristine Tree People works on has its own unique needs and challenges, including this one.
Luckily, Alex, Zac and their team have done their homework and have come equipped.
“It’s a scorcher today,” Alex tells us, and don’t we know it!
Don’t worry, folks; the team comes prepared with proper sun safety equipment.
Although they’re working in a large paddock, there’s quite tight access to the site itself. But the crew knows their stuff. Both Alex and Zac have plenty of experience with large tree removals in tight spaces, so they feel confident they’ll get the job done, and looking at their set-up, so do we!
“We take the time to choose the appropriate machinery for the task, ensuring it positions us correctly to start our work,” Zac explains.

The Work
Once the team gets started, it’s go, go, go! The turnaround is super fast, and we can see that the client is impressed.
“Mick, the client is keeping all the mulch so we’re able to get through a lot of material today” says Alex.
The entire process runs like a well-oiled machine, with everyone on the team knowing their role and timing perfectly.
“Before we kicked off, we designated specific roles for each of us on-site, so we were all clear on what needed to be done and when,” Zac explained.
Looking around, we can see all three of the team working together so smoothly.
Zac is on the mini-loader, loading all those trunks, branches, and tree bits onto the machine and down the chipper.
Alex is the king of the wood chipper [not the potato chipper… tempting as that sounds]. However, it’s still a pretty exciting job nonetheless. The chipper gets all those big pieces of wood into smaller, refined wood chips.
And James, the third man on the job, was there felling the trees and taking them down.
The trio worked so efficiently and with such confidence that they could get the job done quick sticks [pun intended].
And us? Well, we were the entertainment, and we’re totally sure the team loved our silly jokes and funny anecdotes…. Right?!!!

The Results
We were blown away by the professional, safe, and efficient work of the Pristine Tree People team today, and we could tell their clients were, too!
The results were top-notch and done with total respect for the surrounding vegetation.
We absolutely loved joining the team on their job today, and we think the work Alex, Zac, and his crew do is pretty darn awesome.
Now we’ve tagged along with Alex and Zac, and watching them work together was pretty cool, to be honest. They’re all about keeping things clean and safe while knowing their stuff inside out.
And they excel in more than tree clearing. They’re specialists in services like tree pruning, stump grinding, chipping, green waste removal, tree removal, hedging, tree restoration, and more. For more information, visit their website.
So if you’re in need of any of the services, don’t hesitate to reach out to them through their website here. How often do we procrastinate on important tasks like these, promising ourselves we’ll get to it eventually? Consider this your cue to take action!
Thanks, Alex and Zac! One last thing, can we add apprentice arborists to our resumes now?
