Luxury today isn’t about more, it’s about ease.

It’s walking into a warm, welcoming home that’s already set for your arrival. Your playlist is playing, the lights are low, the heating’s just right. Everything in sync, without you lifting a finger.

Sounds dreamy, doesn’t it? Well, that’s the kind of smart living The Techery is bringing to the Highlands, thanks to their new partnership with global home automation leader, Crestron Home.

Meet The Techery team

Based in the Southern Highlands and proudly local, The Techery are a passionate and tight-knit crew with a refreshingly down-to-earth approach to tech support and customer service – the kind of team who’ll happily show up for late-night tech support or climb rooftops in the rain [true story!], just to get your signal sorted.

Since launching in 2022, The Techery has made a name for themselves by helping homeowners across the region find the right tech solutions to get connected, and stay connected. Whether you need a rural internet solution, surveillance or security and intercoms, they’ll work with you to tailor the right solution for your space.

And they’ve just been recognised for it too – winning the 2025 Southern Highlands Local Business Award for Specialised Services. A big [and well-deserved] nod to the work they’re doing across the region.

And while they’re always happy to help with the little things [yes, they can easily sort out your Wi-Fi extensions], their real passion lies in helping people unlock the full potential of smart living.

“This has always been our vision – the smart home,” says Casey Noble, General Manager. “Everything we’ve done – from Wi-Fi and internet to surveillance – has been about building a strong foundation and a layering of services, so our clients can access smart automation in their homes. Some start with the basics and add more over time – and that’s the beauty of it.”

“Crestron Home brings it all together. It’s the cherry on top – a seamless and beautifully integrated system.”

What exactly is Crestron Home?

At its core, Crestron Home is a fully integrated, beautifully designed smart home ecosystem – a seamless system that brings all your tech together in one place, managed via a sleek app or touchscreens. Think lighting, heating, audio, access control, blinds, intercoms, surveillance, irrigation and more – all automated and tailored to the way you want to live.

[cue the mood lighting and bubbles – spa, anyone?]

Everything in the home is controlled with ease on one intelligent platform, making your space more secure, comfortable and effortlessly functional.

No more juggling different apps or remotes – just beautifully smooth, connected living.

“Crestron has been around for over 50 years,” explains Reuben Scott, Head of Technical Operations. “They’re global leaders in this space. The quality is incredible, and the experience for the user is next-level.”

“What’s exciting for us is that we now get to bring that same global quality – and that same wow factor – to homes right here in the Southern Highlands,” says Reuben. “People don’t have to go to Sydney for this level of tech anymore. It’s right here.”

Crestron is famously selective about who gets to distribute and install their systems – so for The Techery to be bringing it to the Southern Highlands, that’s a big win for local homeowners.

“Crestron don’t offer their platform to just anyone,” says Nicole Vella, Operations Manager. “We’re proud to represent their product locally – and to deliver that kind of quality to our community.”

[And proud they should be – because this partnership is no small feat!]

The Techery is the only certified Crestron Home provider in the region, and now part of a very selective global supply chain.

Smart living, and a little bit of magic!

You can use Crestron Home to automate a huge range of everyday functions like lighting and heating to audio, blinds, intercoms, windows, surveillance and so much more – all at the press of a button. But the beauty of the system isn’t just what it can do, it’s how personally it does it.

Everything is custom-built, tailored to your routines, and incredibly intuitive.

And here’s where things get fun.

You can create Scenes that bundle your everyday rituals into one-touch automations. Instead of fiddling with a dozen settings, you just press one button – and the house responds. Crestron Home even allows for custom engraving on switches and keypads, so you might have a Good Morning button [open blinds, turn on ABC Radio, heat the bathroom floor], a Heading Out button [lock the doors, drop the blinds, switch off all lights], or even a Party Mode [dim the lights, play the dance playlist, fire up the smoke machine – yes, really, the Techery team has one in their office].

“Your home literally learns your habits,” explains Casey. “Using geo-fencing and custom scenes, we can automate events so the house adjusts to your lifestyle without you even thinking about it. It knows when you’re getting close to home, when the sun goes down, when the day starts winding down, and it responds accordingly. It’s like your house is living with you, and supporting your every need.”

[That’s the best housemate in the world right there!]

And it’s not just for the mega mansions and tech heads.

No tech degree required… we promise!

It might sound complex, but everything runs through a simple interface on your phone, a wall-mounted touch screen panel, or a remote. The system puts the controls exactly where you want them. And once it’s all set up, it just… works!

“We want to make tech empowering, not scary,” Nicole says. “It should feel smooth, not clunky. Your home should work for you – not the other way around.”

While Crestron is often associated with luxury properties, the team is quick to point out that this isn’t just for mega-mansions.

“People often think smart homes are indulgent or just for tech heads,” Casey says. “But this is about convenience. Comfort. Feeling organised. It’s for anyone who wants their home to work a little harder for them – whatever the size.”

Customised to your home and built to last

One of the most exciting things about this new offering from The Techery is how flexible it is. While Crestron Home shines in new builds, especially when discussed early with your builder, architect or designer, The Techery also offers retrofit options for existing homes. They work collaboratively every step of the way to create a bespoke smart home setup that suits the way you live.

“We don’t just come in at the end and install a box. We consult from the start, work through the build, and configure the system based on how people actually want to live. It’s not just about gadgets, it’s about lifestyle. That’s the difference.”

A modern black light switch with "Lights" text is on a gray wall. A cozy bedroom with a white bed, wooden nightstand, and window is visible.

And you don’t have to do everything at onceThe Techery often works with clients to layer services gradually, building a smart home system step by step.

“We meet people wherever they’re at,” says Reuben. “You might just want help with your internet and Wi-Fi to begin with. Or add some surveillance. Then later, you’re ready to explore access control or smart lighting. It’s all about creating a pathway to smart living that fits your home, your life and your budget.”

Unlike some smart systems that feel clunky or overly complex, Crestron Home is sleek, reliable, and built to last.

“It’s cloud-based and future-proofed,” adds Casey. “We set it up with you, based on what matters to you now, but it can evolve as your needs do. This isn’t something that’ll be obsolete in five years.”

The future looks good, doesn’t it?!

The Techery’s new partnership with Crestron marks a major step forward for what’s possible in our region, not just in terms of technology, but in lifestyle. We might be a small community, but we’re truly living large when we have world-class tech solutions like this right at our fingertips like this. Turns out, world-class innovation pairs quite well with country charm.

And while Crestron Home is a dream system for residential properties it’s also a powerful solution for commercial spaces. Conference rooms, boutique accommodation and event venues… the system is already used across the world in high-end commercial applications. And now, local Southern Highlands businesses can access the ease and convenience of it too.
