Get Your Glutes Burning + Your Heart Pumping
It’s nice to head into the bush to get back to nature and escape from all the crazy in the world, right?
And if you’re the sort who likes to smash out some serious cardio while you’re bushwalking, here’s a list of some of our favourite local walks that will get the blood pumping, the heart rate jumping and the calves burning baby….
Let us know how you go!
1 :: Clover Hill Trail
Beautiful and heart-pounding- words that perfectly describe both us AND this awesome trail! Experienced hikers can tackle the hike above Rainbow Falls, which is totally worth the extra effort. With steep, unguarded sections along the trail, it’s essential to keep a close watch on kids of all ages at all times.

2 :: Drawing Room Rocks
Technically, this walk is just over the border of the Highlands but absolutely worth hitting up for the leg workout and the killer views!

3 :: Katoomba Lookout Loop Track
Now, there’s an easy way to get up to this lookout and a more difficult way. Of course, we took the hard option. This walk has quite the ascent on it!

4 :: Gibbergunyah Reserve
A cracker of a reserve super close to town (in between Mittagong and Bowral), there are some steep ascents as part of the walks but what we love about it is there are quite a few tracks that link together so you can make this walk as long or as short as you like.

5 :: 60 Foot Falls
Another walk where you can take the easy option or the more difficult option to get to the 60 Foot Falls. We love challenging ourselves so took the hard option which will give you a couple of hours of glute burning action and an awfully pretty place to cool off (in the summer months).

This Adventure Guide was brought to you by The Fixed Wheel……
The Fixed Wheel is a full-service bicycle shop in Bowral and is under new ownership. The guys and girls in-store are all cyclists themselves with quite a collection of championships, race wins and real experience under their belts. They definitely know their stuff! If you’re keen to start cycling, you want to try a different type of cycling or perhaps you’re ready to go next level, start at The Fixed Wheel.
We love sharing our awesome outdoor adventures with The Fold readers and want to make sure everyone stays safe and healthy when giving our walks and rides a crack for themselves. So, always check the weather forecast before you venture out. If you’re heading into a National Park, be sure to consult the National Parks website for up-to-date information about current alerts. Prepare yourself with the right equipment, clothing, safety items, with plenty to eat and drink if you’re going on longer hikes, and always let someone else know where you’re going and what time you are expected to be back. Have fun and stay safe!
