Here are some simple tips and hints that just about anyone can do. Let’s start on the outside:

Paint the front door: A fresh coat of paint on the front door is a budget-friendly way to instantly boost your home’s appearance.

Update house numbers: Replace outdated or worn house numbers with new, stylish ones. Here’s a hint – make sure the numbers contrast with their background – you will keep your postie happy and your home deliveries easier to spot by the drivers.

Improve landscaping: Tidy up your yard with some fresh mulch, new plants, or a power wash of the exterior. Most staff at hardware and nurseries can give you great advice.

Now for indoors: you don’t have to be an interior designer to give the indoors a fresh, new look (but it does help). Do some research first – consult your favourite search engine and see the projects the professionals have created. Lots of ideas!

Paint: Refresh any room with new paint—try a bold accent wall or a colourful ceiling. If needed, local painters and handymen in the Highlands are available to assist.

Update hardware: Replacing cabinet and drawer handles in the kitchen, bathroom, or on wardrobes quickly refreshes any space.

Declutter and organise: A tidy home feels bigger and more welcoming. Clearing clutter, organising storage, and designating spaces can have a big impact.

Rearrange furniture: Moving furniture around can give your space a new look. Also consider replacing some items with more modern or bold looks.

Install floating shelves: These add storage and a modern look to any room. Books, ornaments, knick-knacks or framed photos can add another dimension to a room’s appearance.

Replace light fixtures: Replacing outdated light fixtures with modern ones can instantly update a space.

Update bathroom fixtures: Consider replacing outdated showerheads, faucets, or hardware to refresh your bathroom. If you are not confident, look at hiring a plumber or competent handyman.

Clean grout: Scrubbing and sealing grout can make a big difference in the appearance of tiles in bathrooms and kitchens.

Add plants: Fresh greenery can liven up any room and improve air quality. Not a green thumb? There are some great synthetic plants available these days – many are so good, it is hard to tell the difference!

Spring is only weeks away – it might be just the right time to give your home a freshen-up! Check out local trades & services in The Fold’s Local Business Directory.

Sometimes There’s More Than Meets The Eye With A Rental Property
Property
You have inspected the property you want to rent, the lease has been drawn, you’re about to lodge the bond and rent in advance …. STOP!

Before signing that tenancy agreement, the landlord or agent must tell the tenant if the property is or could be encumbered or has `issues’ that can affect the tenant’s rights.
