…Especially In THIS Property Market + Current Financial Landscape!
You hear about them, you see their ads but unless you work with a broker, you don’t really get to understand exactly how the whole process works, right?
So we figured we’d ask somebody who does it – day in and day out – to explain how working with a broker [especially a local one!] can help you.
We spoke to Loan Market Bowral’s, Robert Simpson who definitely knows his stuff and he’s laid it all out quite clearly for us [+ you guys!].

Robert with Ben Mitchell of Loan Market Bowral
1 :: So, what is a broker?
Think of it as having your own personal, non-bank affiliated loan expert available to you.
We help you wade through all the finance and banking jargon [actually we do all the wading!] and guide you through the process of borrowing money, whether it’s for a home, business, car or personal loan, refinancing your current loan or help with a financial restructure that will help with your cash flow and debt consolidation.
As you said earlier, we do this day in day out and love it, so it makes sense to hand something like this over to someone who specialises in it.
2 :: A lot of people think they still have to pay for the service of a broker, don’t they?
Yes, and that’s not the way we operate.
Our brokerage services are usually free for all our clients. Our primary goal is to help clients find the best mortgage solution that suits their needs. We carefully consider various lenders and their products, always prioritising what is most beneficial for our clients, rather than focusing on any financial incentives. All payments we receive are generally taken care of by the lender, not the borrower (you).
3 :: But doesn’t that then impact which lender you put forward?
Not at all.
As an independent broker, we are not tied to any particular lender. This means we can work in the best interests of our clients and provide unbiased advice and recommendations.
Helping our clients get the best deal or putting them in as strong a financial position as we possibly can is what makes us tick.
The best thing about working with a broker is that we’re not owned by a bank. We work in your best interests.
A positive outcome for the client and our business reputation is just too important to us.

4 :: Now, you guys feel the need for speed, right?
I see what you did there….yep, one of the benefits working with a broker gives you is that you don’t get bogged down in banking bureaucracy.
We can move as quickly as you allow us to.
We’ve invested a lot in technology which streamlines the whole documentation process from the application stages right through to the approval.
We also have direct contact with all the banks and lenders we work with so can put a phone call into the right person rather than have you go down the rabbit hole of trying to find the right person or department to talk after being on hold for a period of time just to have the call cut off.
5 :: Ooooooh yeah, we’ve all been there! Speaking of those banks and lenders, how many do you work with?
We have access to over 60 lenders.
It really does give the client an advantage having all this available.
Think of it like walking down the aisle of a supermarket.
There’s plenty of products on the shelves, you can pick and choose what you like and what suits your situation, you can even look for special deals and choose something that’s going to save you a bit of money.
Having those options – and we work with all of them on a daily basis – really puts you in the box seat for finding a loan that is going to absolutely fit your needs.

6 :: Once a loan is all approved, is that it? Do we all move on?
No, a broker gives you ongoing support and guidance once the loan has settled.
Life changes so quickly, especially at the moment, we’re always checking in with our clients to see how the loan is working for them, whether they need to refinance or if they have a the end of a fixed interest rate looming [which is happening for a lot of people right now], we get on the front foot with them and help them lock a competitive new rate in before their finances are impacted too severely by their loan defaulting to a stress inducing interest rate.
7 :: We don’t do stress, so if that’s the case, a broker is the key to keeping those cortisol levels down by the looks of it.
Exactly.
A broker is a wealth of financial knowledge, they’ll know exactly what sort of product will work best for the client, they’ll hold their hand [virtually] through the entire process and more often than not, create a positive outcome for the client.
It’s why we do what we do every day.
Awesome, thanks Robert! That all helps….
Guys, if you haven’t caught our Locals In The Know series, THIS one is with Robert and talks about what brokers do!
