What is RFS Get Ready Weekend?
Each September, the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) hosts Get Ready Weekend events across the state. The aim is simple – to help communities understand their fire risk and take practical steps to protect their property before the season begins.
In 2025, Get Ready Weekend will take place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September, with local brigades throughout the Southern Highlands hosting events, open days, and community activities.
What’s Happening in the Southern Highlands?
Highlands brigades will be out in force to engage with locals and provide tailored advice. Activities include:
- Bunnings BBQs and community stalls – grab a sausage sandwich and fire safety tips.
- Events in Robertson and Bundanoon – featuring displays and information sessions.
- Open fire sheds – visit your local brigade, meet volunteers, and learn about fire safety.
- Canyonleigh Brigade’s street visits – taking the message door-to-door by speaking directly with property owners about their Bush Fire Survival Plans.
Why You Should Attend
