Southern Highlands property market at a glance

Last week’s RBA decision to put interest rates on hold, it hasn’t stopped property sales in the Highlands. Listings on the major digital platforms show some 710 properties are available for sale in the Highlands – a drop of another 10 from last week.

This week we look at the western side of the Highlands. A region that features historic villages such as Berrima, New Berrima (featured in last week’s Property Update) and lifestyle destinations such as Woodlands, High Range, Joadja and Canyonleigh.

Berrima: the median house price in Berrima is $2,212,500

New Berrima: the median house price in New Berrima is $760,000

Woodlands: located just south of Mittagong the area features a range of small and large acreage lifestyle and rural properties. Based on sales over the past 12 months, the median house/property price is $2,500,000

High Range: located to the west of Berrima and Mittagong (approx. 30 minutes), High Range is predominantly large rural and luxury lifestyle property offerings. The area covers Wombeyan Caves Road and norther reaches and features expansive and striking vistas. Based on recent sales, the median price is $3,100,000

Joadja: located to the west of Berrima, Joadja features a range of small and large acreage rural and properties and lifestyle properties – including a cluster of smaller holdings. The area features wineries, distilleries and the historic Joadja `ghost-town’ village. Based on recent sales, the median price in Joadja is $1,265,000. A larger rural holding was sold for $6.2 million in late 2024.

Canyonleigh: one of the larger regions of the Highlands, Canyonleigh is easily accessed from the Hume Highway and some 20 minutes’ drive west of Moss Vale. This sought-after region of the Highlands features vineyards, olive groves, growing B&B industry and a range of lifestyle and rural holdings. Audrey’s Café on Canyonleigh Road is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike.  The median house price for Canyonleigh is $1,707,500 with very few properties on the market at any one time.
