We sat down with Suzi Bryant, Property Partner at The Agency Southern Highlands and one of the region’s most trusted real estate professionals, to chat about the property market during these chillier months. According to her, things are looking a little different this year.
It may be frosty outside, and curling up by the fire is tempting, but believe it or not, winter is shaping up to be a surprisingly active season for property in the Southern Highlands.
And that’s not normally the case!
Traditionally, winter is one of the quietest seasons in real estate. Cold and gloomy weather, fewer listings, and a general tendency to hibernate usually mean there’s far less foot traffic and movement. But this year things seem to have shifted. Properties are selling, buyers are active, and there’s renewed energy in the local market.

According to Suzi, there’s been a noticeable change of pace. And it surprised her too.
“It’s been different to normal here in the Highlands. In winter, it’s usually just so quiet. But I think this year, because the market has been quite slow, and then we had the election, there are still people selling – and there are people buying. People that have waited and waited and waited.”
Suzi also believes people are feeling more financially comfortable, thanks to what the big banks are doing.
“Now, with interest rates dropping a bit, they’re more confident. We’re really hopeful that winter will continue as it has been so far – which is quite a bit stronger than usual.”
And that makes total sense.
Because at its core, real estate thrives on confidence [oh, and a bit of cash too!] – and nothing fuels that confidence like interest rates. When they drop, borrowing feels more manageable, buyers feel empowered and the market starts to move. And this year, that movement just so happens to be aligning with the cooler season.

So what does that mean for everyone?
Well, if you’ve been thinking about buying or listing your property for sale, now might be a great time to strike.
And by that, we don’t mean you should take a flying leap at the very first thing you see. If you’re looking to buy, you still need to do your research and explore what’s out there.
Just know that there does seem to be a rare chance to use these cooler, quieter months to your advantage this year, while others may have packed away their property-searching shoes until spring. You could score yourself a beauty!
And if you’re thinking of selling, this trend could be worth jumping on. With fewer properties on the market and more focused attention on your sale [read: visibility!], combined with growing buyer confidence, that’s when things can get interesting.

With the market behaving in unexpected ways, having a savvy local on your side could make all the difference. And Suzi Bryant is exactly that kind of agent.
Because local knowledge matters [A LOT!].
Suzi’s experience, reputation and deep community ties make her an awesome choice for anyone buying or selling. She’s deeply immersed in the Southern Highlands market and spots real-time trends others might miss. Which is exactly why she’s tuned in to this unusual winter opportunity.

She’s deeply committed to her clients and takes pride in helping people find the right home, or sell with confidence so they can move forward in their property journey.

So if you’re thinking about selling, buying or just curious about the current market, this winter might be the window of opportunity you didn’t see coming. And Suzi Bryant from The Agency Southern Highlands may very well be your secret weapon!
