Everything We Love and You Need To Know About This Exciting New Space in the Highlands

We always love an exciting new adventure to be had in the Highlands, and we don’t think you can get much more exciting than this!

Check out Highlands Hatchets – the new axe throwing experience [and we think it’s one of the best axe-periences you can have around town].

It is challenging and rewarding but also safe AND a really fun way to get together with friends and try something new.

We recently tried it out ourselves and had such a blast we’re actually considering signing up for the league competitions they are planning on starting up early next year.

In the meantime, we’re gonna keep working on throwing skills and giving you guys the 411 on everything you need to know about Highlands Hatchets.

Why We Love It

Honestly, we loved Highlands Hatchets right from the moment we stepped through the door. The venue has a super cool lumberjack’s cabin in the woods feel, which we think fits perfectly with the Southern Highlands vibe. You can totally embrace that rural country charm that is unique to our part of the world- with axe in hand of course!

We also think the styling of the place means that it has a family feel. No big scary monsters or Vikings and as kids over the age of 12 can have a go [with their respective parent or legal guardian co-signing, present and participating in the session]. We love that this is inclusive for the younger ones as well.

And the location is preeetty darn sweet, right next door to our besties, Eden Brewery and Boozy Burgers, once you’re done axe-ing you can pop on down for some excellent brews and delicious burgs. Talk about an epic way to spend your day.

We’re obsessed with their date night packages, something so different than your standard dinner and a movie, and don’t worry if you’re not coupled up, feel free to bring a friend or go double dutch with a group of four.

And we cannot wait for their league competition to begin next year. What a cool sport to be involved in and what a fab way to meet more Highlands buddies.

What to Ax-pect

Look we get it, the idea of throwing axes sounds a little bit scary for some, and we’ll admit some of our crew were a little nervous before they had a throw too, but once they started they didn’t wanna stop. Seriously, this is actually safe fun, remember you’re throwing the axe not catching it after all!

Every session begins with a safety briefing from one of the professional and experienced staff members. They’ll give you training and axe-throwing instructions just remember to wear enclosed shoes and save the drinkies at Eden Brewery for after your session.

Once everyone in your crew has gotten comfortable with safely throwing the axe the round-robin will start. This is a mini-tournament with your group until the best axe thrower of the gang has been crowned. After that, you can keep on throwing until your session is closed.

Don’t forget to add the booking for a table at Eden Brewery once you’re finished so you can keep the good times rolling. Chat about your best/worst throw, chow down on tasty burgers or loaded fries and sip on amazing brews. And if you’re not the beer-drinking type we cannot recommend enough the range of house-made organic soft drinks, seriously once we had a sip of their Strawberry Limeade, we never wanted to go back to drinking water again!

Make sure to arrive around 15 minutes earlier to get all waivers filled out and to book your session at least 48 hours in advance of when you plan to visit as the venue needs to make sure they have instructors ready to begin.

Group Experiences and Corporate Events

When you make your booking there are three options you can choose from.

The group experiences are for groups of up to 10 people. You get two hours of axe-throwing goodness with the instructor and they will also help you set up your booking for food and drinkies afterwards. How fun is this idea for your next catch-up with the gang or mini-celebration?

How about getting the work crew together for some team building? What a cool way to bond, learn something new, and have a good laugh. It beats those Zoom chat games any day. If your boss is open to adding some excitement to the workplace, send them this article ASAP!

The Date Night package is perfect for pairs or groups of four. Enjoy one hour of throwing in your own private lane, then head over to Eden Brewery for drinks, burgers, and loaded fries from Boozy Burgers, all included in the package. Whether you’re looking to impress a date with something unique or even want to spend time with your fave couple of friends, then this is a top choice!

How good does Highlands Hatchets sound for your next local adventure?

Oh, and with Chrimbo just around the corner, we reckon this would be an excellent way to earn some brownie points with your work crew or friends for the best end-of-year celebration idea! Obvs Christmas time spots will be booking up fast so get on it peeps!

Either way, any time of the year is a great time for an axe-ceptional adventure like this and we are sooooo glad it’s here in the Highlands for some hard-hitting fun!
