Oh boy, Southern Flinders Ranges is a hidden gem of a wine region in South Australia! Nestled east of Spencer Gulf, it’s been growing grapes since the 1890s but really started picking up steam in the late ’90s. With a warm, dry climate and cool elevation, this spot produces standout reds like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Shiraz – delish!
The vineyards here are split into two cool zones with different soils, and they often harvest earlier than their neighbors, thanks to a lovely amount of rainfall. And get this – a local Riesling even made it onto Australia’s top 100 wines list back in 2004! So, if you’re a wine lover, you’re gonna want to make a pitstop here—cheers to that!
