Description
Friday March 22 will see the opening of an exhibition of paintings by local artists Alison Fincher and Pat McKenzie. Alison lives and paints beside the Barwon River in Barwon Heads, while Pats’ studio is on a working farm in Aireys Inlet, surrounded by National Park and only minutes from the famed Great Ocean Road.
Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to view a selection of large and small works, including coastal images inspired by the Bellarine and the Great Ocean Road, as well as other rural and international subjects. Works on display will include paintings in oils, watercolours and acrylics.
Alison paints with watercolours on both paper and canvas. She also paints ‘water acrylics’, where the images are built up in layered washes, creating images with a transparency reflective in style of her loose watercolours. Pat works in all mediums, enjoying the challenges of a wide variety of genres. She likes to paint “en plein air” and travels often with her paints, using them to capture the essence of the places she visits.
Pat has been exhibiting since 2002. Her skills have been developed over the years, resulting in many of her works now hanging in private collections in Australia and internationally, including ANL Shipping Lines, Docklands and the Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie, Anglesea.
