Description
Lisadurne Hill is a working farm with an olive grove consisting of 27,000 trees, a commercial rose garden and timber farm buildings from the late 19th century. Visitors can organise a visit to the farm by contacting the team and making an appointment.
Visitors can enjoy sampling and purchasing the fresh olive products produced by the farm during their visits, including extra virgin olive oil, table olives, barrel aged balsamic vinegar made from scratch. They also have skin care products made from the rose hydrosol distilled from the rose petals grown at the farm. The farm also runs regular demonstrations on a variety of techniques and tools, with past demonstrations including handling chain saw and using a still for making lavender oil and hydrosol.
Enjoy a walk around the house and gardens, examine the timber buildings that date from the late 1870s (including a managers cottage and a blacksmiths workshop), the main house, built in the 1880s and the garden that features pepper trees that are 140 years old. Once a year, the damask roses bloom during Spring.
The farm has some local historic value as it was established by Dr JV Heily, the first doctor in the Rushworth district and is still held by some of his descendants.
