Description
French gastronomie and local ingredients.
The restaurant of the southern highlands to celebrate “L’art de vivre’’ à la Française.
For over a decade, Bowral Brasserie has been part of the Southern Highlands dining scene. After closing its doors in early 2023, the restaurant was given a new life in July 2023 when Chef–Owner Julien took the helm. Renamed Julien’s Bowral Brasserie, it marked a fresh chapter — new management, a completely refreshed menu, and a renewed commitment to quality and authenticity.
Since then, we’ve transformed every aspect of the experience, from the food to the service, earning the trust and loyalty of locals who have supported us from day one. Today, we proudly blend timeless French gastronomy with the finest seasonal produce from the Highlands, creating a warm, welcoming space where every meal feels special.
Our Cuisine
Led by Owner and Chef Julien Viel, Julien’s Bowral Brasserie celebrates the richness of traditional French gastronomy, drawing inspiration from diverse regions of France. Each recipe is thoughtfully adapted to the Australian palate and crafted with the finest local ingredients.
Every dish is made in-house, with sauces and flavour pairings at the heart of our cuisine — rich, delicate, and designed to let the ingredients shine.
The Menu
Julien and his team have crafted a menu that captures the essence of French gastronomy — from the hearty traditions of Lyon to the sunlit simplicity of the Mediterranean. Our philosophy is to let each ingredient speak for itself, enhancing its natural character rather than masking it. French cuisine is about concentrating the flavours of simple ingredients, matching and complementing them to create harmony on the plate.
