Penny is an Artist and Teacher living and working in the Southern Highlands of NSW.
Her work is a fusion of all her studies and lived experience in the fields of: textiles, art, design, weaving, bio-dynamic/permaculture and horticulture. Her work deeply resonates with the beauty, vulnerability & spirituality of nature. Working as an artist and designer all her life alongside the practise of gardening and working in and with nature.
Penny's workshops and artworks come from a place of reciprocity with the earth, all indigenous peoples and the ancestors, and in this way aims to restore, reconnect and heal.
Penny’s sculptural works are usually made with 100% foraged or recycled materials, woven or collaged together, often with willow or sticks as their foundation. Her drawings and prints also reference similar themes.
One of the founding partners of “Cloth”, a Sydney based bespoke textile business begun in the 1990’s, Penny produced hand printed and constructed textiles for the furnishing and fashion industries.
Prior to this Penny gained a BA hons. in Constructed Textiles, majoring in weaving, from Winchester School of Art, England.
